Keep It Under Wraps

• Check with your Officiant regarding specific body coverage requirements prior to gown shopping.

• Many houses of worship consider bare shoulders disrespectful.

Remain Open to the Possibilities

• Do not eliminate anything at first glance.

• Try on many different kinds of dresses, then decide which shape and style you look and feel best in.

Go With Your Gut

• If you have to be reassured that the gown looks great on you, it's probably not the one for you.

Attention to Detail

• Once you select your perfect gown, the salon will take the following measurements:– Bust– Waist– Hips

• Each gown manufacturer has its own measurement chart, which the salon will use to determine your size.

• Familiarize yourself with the sizing chart so you can understand how the size is derived.

Remember: Wedding Gowns run small, so don't be alarmed should your final size measurement jump up

a number or two.

The Right Fit

• Every gown will need alterations to fit precisely to your frame.• Typically, you have at least two or three dress fittings.• More may be necessary, so leave ample time before the

wedding. • Ask for a written price schedule for alterations at the time you

purchase your gown, since this service is not always included in the cost of your wedding gown.

• After your gown has been altered correctly, you should be able to move comfortably with everything staying in place.

• If the store doesn't perform its own alterations, ask the salesperson you've been working with to recommend a trusted tailor or seamstress.

Invisible Touches

• Wear undergarments in a tone close to your skin color to prevent them from being seen through your gown.

Pre-Wedding Photos

• If you're planning to take pre-wedding portraits, inquire with your bridal salon whether they allow you to borrow your gown for pictures, then return it to them so they can press it for a fresh look for your wedding.
