Transcript of Itinerary Part 3
September 9, 2009 School of Architecture College of Architecture Arts and Humanities Clemson University ARCH 251 L – Architectural Foundations I Fall 2009, all sections Interpretation part 2_ Itinerary Due on Monday, September 14, at the beginning of class Translating drawing to constructed space
b. Final Model:
Scale – gives a measure and precision to the construct. Scale allows the architectural proposal to relate
to the human body, as well as giving us a sense of place and orientation. Layers – give a depth to the proposal and an additional sense of measure to the construct.
Transparency is a technique that can also heighten the sense of depth and dimension.
Create a final model where the frames are doubled from the study model (6” x 9”). Create a scale figure to use in your model. All openings and paths of movement should relate to the normative human figure. For example doors can be no less than 2’-6” wide and 6’-8” tall. Ramps and stairs can be no less than 2’-6” wide. Your architectural proposition should convey movement and narrative. The final model should be well-crafted and precise.
