IMPLEMENTATION OF STANDARD-SETTING INSTRUMENTS

PART I

GENERAL MONITORING

COMPREHENSIVE REPORT BY THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL ON UNESCO’S STANDARD-SETTING INSTRUMENTS

SUMMARY

Pursuant to 33 C/Resolution 88 of the General Conference, the Director-General submits to the Executive Board this information document which contains particulars, as at 30 June 2015, of the standard-setting activities envisaged at UNESCO and a comprehensive report on all the Organization’s standard-setting instruments, and more particularly on the status of ratification of conventions, for transmission to the General Conference at its 38th session, along with any comments the Executive Board may consider it useful to make at this session.

No decision is required.

1. In 33 C/Resolution 88, the General Conference invited the Director-General to submit to it at each of its sessions "an information document containing particulars of the standard-setting activities envisaged at UNESCO and a comprehensive report on all the Organization's standard-setting instruments, and more particularly on the status of ratification of conventions, with comments by the Executive Board".

2. This document, drawn up to give effect to 33 C/Resolution 88, contains the following information:

C. Reports on the implementation of standard-setting instruments submitted to the General Conference in 2015

The General Conference at its 38th session should consider the summary of the reports received from Member States on the measures taken for the implementation of the following convention:

• 1970 Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property (document 38 C/29 – item 7.3 of the provisional agenda of the 38th session of the General Conference)

In 2015, the General Conference should also consider the consolidated reports on the measures taken by Member States for the implementation of the following recommendations:

• 1980 Recommendation concerning the Status of the Artist (document 38 C/30 – item 7.4 of the provisional agenda of the 38th session of the General Conference)

• 1993 Recommendation on the Recognition of Studies and Qualifications in Higher Education (document 197 EX/20 Part VI – item 20 of the provisional agenda of the 197th session of the Executive Board)
