Using Smart Boards

Using a smart board teachers can quickly and easily create flow charts, line charts, webbing and so on to allow students with disabilities to visualize and focus on a topic.

Students with disabilities need organization and order.

Creating fun and interactive activities gives students with ADHD a channel to focus their mind.

Smart Board

Smart Boards allow for students to be involved in their learning. Students with ADHD need to be in a least restrictive environment as possible. Restricting their learning will cut them off from any chances of wanting to learn.

Using the smart boards allows for freedom in the classroom, and for students to try things immediately after being taught by the teacher.

Text to Speech

Text to Speech software can be extremely useful for those students that are visually impaired. By allowing notes to be issued to speech students who are visually impaired can listen to the notes.

This technology is helpful in other places then the classroom like GPS receivers and phones.

Students can easily listen to notes at a later date for studying purposes.

Students with disabilities are not to feel left out, however technologies such as text to speech will push for further inclusion for students with disabilities to continue their education.

Students who are slower at reading will be able to listen to information now instead of solely reading it. This will allow them to feel like they belong in the classroom.

Smart Pen

A smart pen allows students to listen to the lecture or information in class to be recorded, and played back at a later time.

Students with auditory disabilities will be able to use the smart pen, record notes, write a small bit of information, and return back to the notes at a later date.

Any information that is missed can be replayed and information can be written down at a later date.

Smart Pen Example

A 3rd grade student with an auditory disability is learning their multiplication, division, subtraction and addition problems.

Student A has a smart pen and can work on the problems while the teacher talks the student through the problem.

The information can be replayed at home with a parent for help at home.
