    PREFACE

    We undertook the Project on Shirts with removable collars and handcuffs as a part of our

    course curriculum of PGDM in the field of IT for Decision Making at IMT GHAZIABAD.

    The duration of our project was one month.

    During the first two weeks of our Project, we finalized the questionnaire and focused on

    collection of data & the analysis of the same. Then, we obtained relevant data from the

    internet to study the readymade garment industry with special focus on formal shirts . We

    analysed the sector, developed a prototype of the shirt we want to make. After thorough

    analysis using the various tools in excel we have decided to go ahead with this project and

    launch it in the market at the right time.

    We have tried to incorporate the results of the surveys to the best of our abilities & available

    resources.

    INTRODUCTION

    We have realized the need of shirts with removable collars and hand cuffs. Collars and hand

    cuffs are the two parts of shirts which get dirty frequently and quickly. We will create a shirt

    which will have removable collars and hand cuffs.

    A shirt with removable collars and hand cuffs will provide high cost benefit value to the

    customer. It has a potential to provide four-five shirts at the cost of one shirt. We will provide

    shirts in two categories. The name of basic version will be 365 and that of premium version is

    365+. The cost of 365 will be ` 450 and that of 365+ will be ` 800.

    RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

    The sample size for the research wasexactly one hundred. An online questionnaire was used

    for collecting the data. The questionnaire involved different type of questions like multiple

    choice and open ended questions.

    We analyzed the responses of the all the people who participated in the survey and tried to

    understand the needs of the customer.

    We analyzed the Present market of the readymade garments in India by using reliable souces

    of information from the internet such as www.indiastat.com. After analtyzing various aspects

    such as growth rate of the industry and the market share of formal shirts we developed a

    prototype of the shirt to get an estimate of the cost.

    We then used the various tools in Excel such as goal seek analysis,scenario manager etc to

    get an idea of the break evenpoint,the annual instalments to be repaid as well as the optimum

    number of instalments to be paid. All these information were used to come up with a final

    decision.

    Why 365?

    The following points can be cited as the strength of 365 shirts.

    A Radical Innovation Collar The Weakest Link Increased life Cost Effective Multi utility Suited for travelers as it results in weight reduction of luggage.

    The shirt has the potential and capability to be used with different collars and replace four

    five shirts. It will be very economical for the customers like salesman, students living inhostels who could not wash shirts regularly.

    Marketeting strategy

    We have identified the punch line as

    A shirt for all seasons of life!!!

    The advertisement strategy will be as follows

    First an Inter IMT campaign will be launched A promotional video will be created highlighting benefits of our product We will conduct sessions in colleges to make students aware of the product and to remove

    any misconception about the product.

    We will hold street plays in both urban and rural areas

    Following advertisement channels will be used

    Social networking sites Word of mouth publ icity Pamphlet Distribution Sponsorships for college events Hoardings at public places

    Conclusion

    As any research, this research may have certain limitations. Since the ratio of female

    respondents is significantly lesser as compared to the male ratio, our findings may comprise

    of gender biased opinions. Further, a diversified age group could be incorporated to make this

    survey more realistic.

    People are willing to try the 365 at least once. When they use it and have experience then

    more buyers will be attracted to buy the product. Also, people have some misconceptions

    about the product. After our seminars and road shows, we will be able to remove the doubts

    in the minds of customer and we will get more buyers for the shirt.

    A further enhancement to this comprehensive study could be to encompass a wider consumer

    base that extends across countries and continents. This will help us to cater the needs of

    various segments of the society and expand our business.
