Italy is located in Southern Europe on the long, boot-shaped Italian Peninsula, including Sicily an Sardinia. It has borders with: France, Austria, Slovenia and Switzerland.

• Capital city: Rome.

-The Apennine Mountains form the peninsula’s backbone.

-The Alps form its northern boundary.
