1. Italian Fashion The essence of style is a simple way of saying something complex- Giorgio Armani
As the fashion capital of the world, Italy holds a history like no other. Beginning in 1951 when Count Giorgini, organized a fashion show to be presented to an International audience in Florence. Using his palace as a venue he continued to hold fashion shows in collaboration with already popular art shows. Models would walk the runway with a backdrop of fine art and scenery. Following Count Giorginis lead museums and art galleries were also holding fashion shows in order to display new fashions with their new pieces. Because of these lavish events held by royalty and wealthy socialites, fashion became associated with high status and money.
Soon after in the 70s and 80s Milan became known as the Fashion Capital of Italy, and some already considered it the best in the world for new and trendy fashions. Today, the worlds most prestigious designers hail from Italy, and the words Made in Italy printed on a garment mean that it is high quality and high fashion. Dolce & Gabbana, Versace and Armani all hailing from Italy prove that this country is a powerhouse in high fashion and have a large influence on apparel design throughout the world.
