Frames HIGHLIGHTS

• In 2011, compared to 2010, the market was flat. The last two months showed an increase of 3.3% in units and 4.2% in value.

• Safilo Group's market share in 2011 was 20.9% in units and 20.7% in value. Safilo Group increased by 9% in units and 5% in value. In 2011 Safilo Group’s top brands in value were: Gucci, Emporio Armani, Safilo, Carrera. The average price was 113€.

• Luxottica Group had a market share of 40% in units and 43.4% in value. It saw a decrease in sales of 4.5% in units and 3.6% in value. In 2011 Luxottica’s top brands in value were: Ray Ban, Vogue, D&G, Prada and Persol. The average price was 123€.

• Marcolin and Marchon are the followers respectively with a market share of 4.9% and 2.9% in units and 5.7% and 3.3% in value.

• The top 10 brands in the market (in value) were: Ray Ban, Vogue, Gucci, D&G, Emporio Armani, Prada, Persol, Bulgari, Silhouette, Chanel.

• 6 out of the top 10 best selling models (in units in the last two months of 2011), were Ray Ban.

• Frames with a price higher than € 100 accounted for 54% of sales in units while the incidence of frames with a price higher than 200 € was 7.1%. In this last segment (above 200€), Luxottica had a market share by value of 36.6% while Safilo 11.9%.

SunglassesHIGHLIGHTS

• In 2011, compared to 2010, the market increased by 3.5% in units and 2.1% in value.

• Safilo Group's market share in 2011 was 18.1% in units and 18.4% in value. Safilo Group sales decreased 5% in units and 6% in value. In 2011 the Safilo Group’s top brands in value were: Gucci, Carrera, Emporio Armani, Giorgio Armani and Christian Dior.

• Luxottica Group had a market share of 61.6% in units and 63.8% in value. It saw an increase in sales of 4% in units and 3% in value. In 2011 Luxottica’s top brands in value were: Ray Ban, Persol, Oakley, Vogue, Prada.

• Marcolin and Marchon are the followers respectively with a market share of 3.8% and 3.3% in units and 5.5% and 3.2% in value.

• The top 10 brands in the market (in value) were: Ray Ban, Gucci, Persol, Carrera, Oakley, Vogue, Prada, Tom Ford, D&G, Emporio Armani.

• 9 out of the top 10 best selling models (in units in the last 2 months of 2011) were Ray Ban models.

• Sunglasses with a price higher than € 100 accounted for 63.3% of sales in units while the incidence of sunglasses with a price higher than 200€ was 5.1%. In this last segment (above 200€), Luxottica had a market share in value of 45.6% while Safilo 18.5%.
