IStO‘s excursion to Heidelberg
June 27th

of the loveliest that can be imagined, too. Out of a billowy up
heaval of vivid green foliage, a rifle-shot removed, rises the
huge ruin of Heidelberg Castle, with empty window arches, ivy-
mailed ba"lements, moldering towers--the Lear of inanimate
nature--deserted, discrowned, beaten by the storms, but royal
s#ll, and beau#ful. It is a fine sight to see the evening sunlight
suddenly strike the leafy declivity at the Castle's base and dash
up it and drench it as with a luminous spray, while the adja-

Like once described by Mark Twain, Heidelberg is known for its beau!ful landscape, the picturesque old
town with its castle ruin, as well as the oldest university of Germany.
Join us for a guided tour of the magnificent town of Heidelberg on June 27th 2015 mee!ng at 9:30 a.m. at
the Karlsruhe main sta!on (Hauptbahnhof) main hall under the electronic display!

What is offered?
¨ 3 hour guided tour of the old town of Heidelberg as
well as the castle ruin in the morning
Optional you can choose of the following addi-
tional activities. Please notice that the costs of
these options are not included in the excursion’s
price of 16€!
¨ optional wine tasting of three different regional
wines in front of the castle ruin (additional cost of
7,50 €)
¨ optional visit to the University museum (including the old great hall and the student prison
(“Studentkarzer”) (cost: 3 €), the German Packaging Museum (cost: 3,50 €) or the German Phar-
macy Museum (no extra cost) in the afternoon
¨ Have you ever eaten a German beef olive (“Roulade”) or German pasta (“Spätzle”)? Before
heading back to Karlsruhe we would like to invite you to join us on a typical German dinner
(additional cost of about 15 €)
What will it cost? The price depends on the number of participants. It will be
about 16 € including the train ride (to and from), the 3 hour guided tour as well as
the entrance fee to the castle ruin and German pharmacy museum.
