We are a world famous organisation with a proud history in the investigation, treatment and research of heart and lung disease. From our two sites – in Chelsea, London and Harefield, Middlesex – we strive to develop our staff both personally and professionally to ensure our patients get the first class service they deserve. As one of the leading Paediatric Echocardiography Services in the UK, we carry out around 8000 scans per year including standard transthoracic echo, intra and perioperative TOE and specialised echo such as three-dimensional imaging. In addition, the team carry out approximately 2500 fetal scans within the trust site and at referring fetal medicine centres. We are seeking an experienced Echocardiographer to join our team. The post is based in Paediatric Echocardiography; however there will be opportunities for continuing professional development in other disciplines and areas of echocardiography.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision and day-to-day running of an efficient and effective paediatric echocardiography service. The candidates applying for this post should have gained experience in echocardiography and have obtained BSE accreditation. This position will be based at The Royal Brompton Hospital. Due to internal promotion and further expansion of our cardiac services, including Primary PCI, we are pleased to be able to offer Cardiac Physiologist positions in the Dorset Heart Centre.

We are extremely proud of our extensive cardiac coronary intervention facilities comprising of four Catheter Labs. We are one of the Top 5 centres in the country for PCI activity based at a DGH, utilising such high end techniques as laser atherectomy, rotablation with integrated IVUS, pressure wire capabilities and OCT. We also have a strong emphasis on research.

An ever increasing electrophysiology and tachy service for a population of one million and our brady pacing service (implants >500 new systems annually), make us one of the biggest pacing centres in the UK.

Our services are supported by nine Consultant Cardiologists, including three specialist EP Consultants and five clinical fellows. The department expansion will also include bringing a further Coronary Intervention Consultant Cardiologist to the Centre.

Non-invasive procedures include an established BSE Accredited Echocardiography service performing over 10,000 diagnostic scans p.a. This service has state of the art equipment – Philips IE 33s – in a modern, comfortable working environment. Tests include both 2D & 3D TTE/TOE, as well as an AV optimisation service.

Highly Specialised Cardiac Physiologist - Echocardiography

This post would suit a BSE accredited Cardiac Physiologist with at least three years’ experience, who is able to perform and interpret to a high standard 2D and 3D Echocardiograms, heart failure studies and imaging during some invasive investigations and have Transoesophageal imaging experience.

This candidate would be expected to support on-going research projects and also assist in education programmes for junior Cardiac Physiologists and junior medical staff.

Cardiac Physiologist

This post is suitable for a physiologist with some experience in cardiac catheter lab procedures, including left/right heart catheterisation and pacing.

The successful applicants will possess BSc Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent, as well as RCCP registration. The H.S. Cardiac Physiologist (Echo) will have BSE Accreditation. Experience in a wide range of cardiac investigations is essential and training in more specialised techniques will be provided. We are fully supportive of personal and professional development; you will be encouraged to attend courses, conferences and seminars relevant to you. There is at present a 24/7 on call Rescue PCI service, with expansion in the near future to 24/7 PPCI.

We require an experienced Clinical Cardiac Scientifi c Technician to undertake a range of non-invasive investigations excluding echocardiography. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate competence in a broad range of procedures including exercise stress testing, 24 hour ECG, BP monitoring, event monitoring and tape analysis, and must be prepared to lead in technician-led exercise stress test. Previous experience of respiratory function testing would be an advantage.

For this post you will require HTEC/degree or equivalent in a relevant subject and will have ASCST. ILS accreditation would be an advantage although on-site training can be provided.
