News in 2011 WHAT’S We are announcing that US operations will become three districts with leaders as follows: District 1 (Eastern Region) - Willy Nowotny, VP District 2 (Texas) – Larry Laws, VP District 3 (Western Region) – John Cevaal, VP This change is a result of several factors. MWH Constructors has witnessed incredible growth in our construction business over the past few years. The combination of MWH Constructors in the US and MWH Treatment in the UK will generate $500M in revenue in 2011, approximately one-third of the total revenue of MWH Global. Even with this record growth, we cannot sit back and take it easy; nor can we continue to do business the way we have in the past. The marketplace continues to change and we must change to maintain a competitive advantage. You will see the districts become self-contained franchises over the next few months — from marketing through construction to start up and commissioning. In our last newsletter distributed in January, we announced the acquisition of Biwater Treatment, which is now MWH Treatment in the UK. At that time, we had also just combined our municipal, federal, industrial and construction management services into a single group termed US Operations. Since then, we have begun to see the synergies created by these actions and we continue to refine our structure and systems to ensure the organization is successful. WHAT’S

We are announcing that US operations will become three districts with leaders as follows:

District 1 (Eastern Region) - Willy Nowotny, VP

District 2 (Texas) – Larry Laws, VP

District 3 (Western Region) – John Cevaal, VP

This change is a result of several factors. MWH Constructors has witnessed incredible growth in our construction business over the past few years. The combination of MWH Constructors in the US and MWH Treatment in the UK will generate $500M in revenue in 2011, approximately one-third of the total revenue of MWH Global. Even with this record growth, we cannot sit back and take it easy; nor can we continue to do business

the way we have in the past.

Pima Project Team Reaches Out to the Community

In an effort to help the local community, Pima Project team members volunteered this June to renovate two rooms in the home of an elderly Tucson woman. The room renovations took place over two back-to-back weekends where many MWH Constructors employees volunteered their time.

We also contributed $5,000 to Rebuilding Together Tucson (RTT), a nonprofit, volunteer-based organization dedicated to repairing and renovating owner-occupied homes for low-income homeowners. The entire contribution was used to purchase supplies needed for the renovation.

The rooms were completely gutted and replaced with new drywall, a fresh coat of paint, wood laminate flooring, six new windows and a new front door. The Pima Project Team not only worked hard to renovate the home, but exceeded expectations by helping the homeowner reorganize her possessions, creating a cleaner and more comfortable living space.

Central Weber Construction Close-Out on Schedule for September 2011

MWH has worked with the Central Weber Sewer Improvement District continually for the past 35 years. In 2008, MWH Constructors began fieldwork to provide CM/GC services on the $135M Central Weber Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion in Ogden, UT. The CM/GC project included construction of a new 30-mgd activated-sludge treatment plant as an expansion to the existing facility, as well as all civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, commissioning and start up services. Plant commissioning and start up activities began in the second quarter of 2011, with the full plant scheduled to be online in September 2011.

MWH Uses Accelerated De-sign-Build Delivery to Expand Dannon Company’s Pretreat-ment Wastewater Operations

Using an accelerated design-build approach, MWH was able to develop a new multi-million dollar wastewater pretreatment system in West Jordan, UT, allowing the Dannon Company to begin using its new facility after just six months of design and construction. In spite of a series of challenges, including permitting, weather constraints and environ-mental challenges, the new facility began receiving water on March 14, 2011 – one day before its required start up date.

Austin WTP No. 4 (WTP4) Project Reaches New GMP Milestones

In July, MWH Constructors was awarded two separate GMPs totaling $154M for the WTP4 project:

1. $50M GMP3E (Plant-wide electrical, SCADA and yard piping)

2. $104M GMP5 (Jollyville finished water tunnel/pipeline)

The scope for these two GMPs includes finalizing the water treatment plant and laying the pipe for the finished water tunnel that con-nects the intake structure in Lake Travis to the pump station. These two authorizations bring the total phased project awards to $319M out of a projected total of $359M.

Tallahassee Team Completes Major Project Milestone

The MWH team at the Thomas P. Smith (TPS) Water Reclamation Facility job site in Tallahassee, FL. successfully completed a major project milestone this June by safely installing massive dome covers on two new digesters.

The digesters are part of the $163M upgrade and expansion to the site, where MWH is serving as the Construction Manager-at-Risk. Each dome cover was 89 ft. in diameter, 14 ft. tall and weighed roughly 115,000 lbs. The team used a 550-ton mobile hydraulic crane — the largest in North America — to install the covers. The crane has a 70-ft. radius and was delivered in pieces on 13 flatbed trucks and assembled onsite.

The lid operation took extensive coordination with the project engineer, subcontractors and the City of Tallahassee and took more than six weeks of planning. The work was completed on Tuesday, July 26 and Thursday, July 28.

The TPS Water Reclamation Facility is located close to the capitol’s only airport — including a run-way that is within 150 yards of the site. Because of the size and height of the crane, that runway was shutdown and traffic was rerouted for the first lift.

“We are successful because we plan,” said Barry McLaughlin, regional safety manager. “We have a great team and we don’t take any shortcuts.”
