Please note that the school is well aware of the individual needs of each child and will consider these accordingly in class placement. Classes are re-grouped each year and students are mixed carefully taking into account a fair distribution of gender, academic ability, individual, social, emotional and behavioural needs and students who would benefit by being kept together or separated. If parents have any concerns regarding the class placement of their child for next year these should be made in writing prior to Friday 8 November and addressed to the Principal. It is not appropriate to approach teachers or any other staff member regarding these matters. Concerns should only be made in exceptional circumstances and not on an annual basis. Parents must provide sound educational reasons to support their concerns. While concerns will be seriously considered, they may not be able to be granted. Personal requests for specific teachers will not be considered. There is a long, arduous, professional, non-emotive process to make this selection so as to ensure the best learning environment for each child. Your child will be placed in the class that the teachers and leadership determine is the best for your child’s academic and social emotional learning. Ultimately the final decision for placement of students rests with the principal. Parents will be advised of classes for next year with their child's report, which will be available on Monday 16 December. An orientation morning for next year's classes will also be held on Monday 16 December from 9:00am to 11:00am. Once announced, classes for next year are final. Regards Brian Martin Principal

On Monday 28th of October Sacred Heart will be celebrating Day for Daniel.

‘Day for Daniel’ is an initiative from the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. The focus

of this day is to educate students about keeping safe through child safety and

protection activities and lessons targeted to each year level. It aims to help

empower the children to Recognise, React and Report if they feel something is

not right.

During lessons, students are encouraged to reflect on those who they can

talk/report to when they are frightened, worried, or feeling unsafe. We

encourage parents to ask students about their activities and continue safety

discussions at home. Also students may wear a splash of red on this day.

Sacred Heart Walk Ride or Scoot to School Day Thursday October 31st

Dear Parents/Carers,

This year Sacred Heart has joined hundreds of primary schools across Victoria for a fun month of walking, riding and scooting to and from school. We are logging our students’ activity so every time our local families walk, ride or scoot to and from school during October, they increase the chance of their child's class becoming the champion class!

This year we are combining creativity with physical activity and encouraging kids to put their best foot forward by decorating their shoes, bikes or scooters to make Walk to School even more fun. On Thursday 31st October we are asking that as many students and their carers as possible walk, ride or scoot to school and wear a pair of shoes or ride bikes/scooters which have been personally decorated. There will be a parade before school at 8.30am to showcase the designs and prizes will be awarded at each level. The winners will be announced at the conclusion of the parade

You can decide how your child/children will take part in Walk to School Parade —they can:

• Decorate an old pair of shoes

• Buy a new pair of shoes to decorate — some stores carry basic trainers for approximately $3.50 each

• Create removable decorations to add to their shoes, bike or scooter

Ideas for decorating can be found at https://www.walktoschool.vic.gov.au/decorations.

The following School prizes will be awarded

• Best decorated Foundation - 1 prize shoes, 1 prize bike/scooter

• Best decorated Level 1/2 - 1 prize shoes, 1 prize bike/scooter

• Best decorated Level 3/4 - 1 prize shoes, 1 prize bike/scooter

• Best decorated Level 5/6 - 1 prize shoes, 1 prize bike/scooter

• Champion Class - most walks/rides/scoots for the month

VicHealth Prizes

Students can also enter the Vic Health competition for The Best on Ground Student Award:

1 x personalised and signed AFL footy jumper from your nominated club and favourite player*

The best weekly designs will be awarded prizes so show your creativity and share your fun designs!

To be eligible to win, kids need to complete the following (with parent or carer permission of course!):

1) Design your shoes, bikes or scooters

2) Share your designs (videos or photos) on the Walk to School Facebook page and tag @WalkToSchool with

the hashtag #walktoschool

https://www.facebook.com/WalkToSchool/

Prizes will be drawn weekly and winners contacted via Facebook private message.

*Player subject to availability -in the event that a player is not available, AFL Players reserves the right to select a substitute player from that club.

We encourage all students and their parents/carers to get involved in decorating and come to the parade on October31st to celebrate Walking, Riding and Scooting to School
