Issue No 10, Summer-Autumn 2017 FORGET-ME-NOT NEWS Many exciting developments have taken place since our last newsletter and it’s a pleasure to share them with you: NEW WRITING PARTNERS, 2016 Welcome to our new Writing Partners, Samantha and Leane. Samantha is based in The Waikato and is already working with four new clients including one for their company history. Leane is working in the East Auckland area and has also started several projects. TRAINING FOR HOSPICE EASTERN BOP STORY WRITERS We felt privileged to conduct a one-day training for the life story writers at the Hospice Eastern Bay of Plenty based in Whakatane and were happy to donate our time to such a worthy group. FROM THE DESK OF WRITING PARTNER: KATE McCARTHY Kate has recently completed Pick & Shovel to Caravans - a fascinating story of the Hurst Bros - Early Years in New Zealand’s Caravan Industry. Claude Hurst’s daughter Valerie Maplesden initiated the project. Kate also made front page news in the local Katikati newspaper with her production of our very first video. In conjunction with the passionate team from the Western Bay Community Archives, this community history video features memories of Katikati as recalled by Sally Henry, one of the town’s most well-known long term residents. You can view if here: http://westernbay.recollect.co.nz/, or Memories of Katikati - Sally Henry OUR ODYSSEY Rosemary and Gordon Mock’s epic Our Odyssey (320 pages and 800+ images) took just under 5 years to complete. It was certainly our Odyssey as well but an enormously rewarding undertaking.
