<SxperienceLearning is a continuous process. But, the speed of

learning varies as per the experience/situation.Lectures, Workshops, Seminars, Good reading etc.helps us increase the speed oflearning. Similarly,Goodexperience also adds a lot in the learningprocess. Threeemployees ofPowerlinks recently got an opportunity togain great learning from the Nature itself. Theywitnessed the wilderness, softness, moods and beautyofthe Nature very closely and it helped them to realized& develop their hidden qualities.

It was a High Altitude Trekking Programmeorganized by Tata Steel Adventure Foundation, inHimalayan ranges of Garhwal region. MIs. BharatChaudhari, Arun Kumar Singh & Manoj Ranjan fromPowerlinks took part in this programme alongwithother participants from NDPL & TATA STEEL. On25thMay 2004, the group of nine participants assembledat the Base Camp located at a height of 4200 feet fromsea level, on the bank of river Assiganga, near villageRawada, 8 Kms further to Uttarkashi in Uttaranchal.

Jubiliant team at Dharwa top

Four days were spent here in learning & practicingRiver crossing techniques, Rock Climbing, Abseiling,Anchoring and Belaying under the guidance ofMs. Bachhendri Pal, Head, TSAF, (fIrst Indian lady toclimb Mount Everest). Tips of camping and rucksackpacking were given and additional information wasprovided through slide shows & fIlm shows. All theseactivities helped the participants to realize their ownhidden potential, to remove mental blocks of perceivedfear and to improve confIdence level. All this learningwas further enhanced by six days trek to 13,550 feethigh Dharwatop &back.

On 30thMay 2004, the group started with theirbackpacks towards 'Marsona' a seasonal village. Theywalked 14Kms and climbed 3,300 feet. After reaching, they pitched their tents and cooked food for themselves. This continued for rest of the days. Every day a newLeader was chosen by the group in rotation andstrengths & weaknesses ofleader were discussed in theevening for improvement. Next two halts were at Majhi& Dodital. On 2nd June 2004, the entire teamsuccessfully climbed Dharwa Top and returned backwith a great experience. The view of Himalayan range& snow covered peaks from Dharwa top was fabulous. The groupreturned to base campby another route with ahalt atBhebra (6500 feet).

During trekking allunderwent different experiences.Vastness of Himalayas & Greatness of Nature isinstrumental to reduce one's ego level and one becomeshumble. Due to over exertion, everyone went through astate of depression at onepoint or other. But, cheering &morale support of fellow colleagues helped to regainthe lost confIdence. This was in deed a great learning.Every onewas touched with the value ofteam work andco-operation.

Similarly, importance ofpositive attitude, leadershipqualities, creativity & communication were came outstronglyduring the trek. '
