5 New Years Resolutions You Should
Keep!
Tips to ensure life-long professional success!
1. Network: Yes, putting yourself out there is scary and it does not come
naturally to all. However, it is an essential skill for all young professionals to
master prior to entering the workforce. The first step in becoming a networking
superstar is frequenting events offering opportunities to meet with alumni and
professionals. Continuous practice will eventually lead to better results.
2. Read! Read! Read!: What do Warren Buffet, Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk
have in common? Besides being billionaires; all of these individuals are avid
readers. However, bookworms do not develop overnight, so the best tip to
unlock your inner Bill Gates is try reading one daily article from a reputable news
source or an expert in a field of interest.
3. Prioritize tasks: There are only 24 hours in a day, so why not choose to spend
your time wisely. Creating to-do lists the night prior, is an easy yet highly
effective method to prioritizing your time.
4. Start a Routine: Often the college experience can be spontaneous and
unpredictable. This is great, however, we all need some order within our life.
Luckily sticking to a daily routine brings a helpful dose of structure to life. You
can embark on this resolution by writing down your ideal daily schedule and
make it a reality. Stay persistent and eventually habits will form.
5. Schedule “Me” Time: Amy Morin, a psychotherapist and WSJ bestselling
author, discovered a link between mental strength and practicing alone time.
Oprah, the queen of daily “stillness”, and other successful people, realize the
value of their energy and regularly distance themselves from wastes of time.
Your journey to mental strength starts by you engaging in more single person
activities such as meditation and following through.

Intern SPOTLIGHT
Tiffany Loo, senior Accounting major, interned at the
PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) as a Deals Advisory: Mergers &
Acquisitions Financial Due Diligence intern. Her internship occurred
during summer 16’ in New York City. To Tiffany’s surprise, she served
as one of four interns selectively chosen by the M&A group. The internship exposed her to the various stages of advisory with a particular
focus on due diligence. While engaged in multimillion dollar projects,
she used prior business concepts taught at SUNY Geneseo to analyze
legal documents such as lease agreements. Tiffany describes her
experience as “fast paced yet very rewarding”. When asked what is her
fondest memory of the internship Tiffany stated “I loved engaging in a
project from start to finish”. She accredits the internship with teaching
her essential professional lessons she hopes to apply in the near future.
Upon completion of the internship, Tiffany was offered a fulltime
position at PwC. She happily accepted and will begin working in July
2017!
