But did that stop Norwood’s P.T.A? Did that prevent the dedicated visitors? NO IT DID NOT! What a day! There was so much to do and the weather certainly did not dampen Norwood’s spirit! We were entertained by the amazing Year 5 Music band, the fabulous Morris Dancers and a truly amazing taekwondo display by the Unite group. Norwood visitors were able to prepare fruit crumbles to cook later, decorate their own mugs, ride on the model train; bounce on the bouncy castles, burst balloons with your bottom...........the list was endless. Without a doubt, one of the highlights was seeing Mr Dumbell in the stocks! Well done to all those who soaked him! Norwood P.T.A would like to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone for their support and an equally big THANK YOU to all the parents and staff who gave up their time. Without their dedication, Norwood would not be the school it is!

Norwood’s Next Big Thing!

Alan Sugar eat your heart out! What young entrepreneurs we have! The week began with children making the products

that they were going to sell and ended with a big sale on Thursday 23rd June. The children were amazing, explaining their products and persuading people to buy!

As parents you were fantastic, supporting and encouraging the children as you looked at all the products, but mainly, for

completing your feedback sheets in such detail and with such enthusiasm.

Here are some of your comments:

‘What a great idea! Really enjoyed the market stalls.’

‘My daughter has loved the last fortnight!’

‘The children all seemed involved, even the quieter ones gained confidence! It is a real incentive for them to design, make and sell their craft work.’

‘Very good selling techniques. I am impressed with all the hard work with handmade goods.’

Your main criticism was the noise in the hall, which we are all in agreement with and hope to change in any future enterprise work.

So on to the winners:

Parent’s best product: Year 6

Most percentage of profit: 4M

Total profit towards the Arts Festival: £1012.84

Finally, we would love to thank you all for such enthusiasm and generosity.

Andrew Ross from AV Engineering came to talk to the School Council about tables & benches

for the playground. The children were very impressed with the tables which had games

tops for chess or snakes & ladders.

School Council NewsWe recently had a visit from Sefton Libraries to talk to the children

about this year’s Summer Reading Challenge. The challenge is simple: read six or more library books over the summer. This summer the

Reading Challenge heads for the big top as children swoop into libraries on the circus trapeze. Everyone who signs up for the Summer Reading Challenge 2011 can keep track of the books they read on a special fold-

out stage, and it’s free to join. The fun doesn’t stop at the library though! The Circus Stars website has been designed to bring a whole new dimension to the Summer Reading Challenge. Log on to the Circus Stars website: www.circus-stars.org.uk
