It is with great joy and a sense of achievement that we bring out the 2 issue of 'Pragati'.
The 1 Convocation of the School, held with dignity and grace, was a major milestone.
NWQT Awards attracted more entries than ever before. It was encouraging to see that a
large number of learners of our School were representing their companies in the finals of
the competition. Also, a new category of awards was initiated from this year onwards for
the Service sector with the institution of Educomp Quality Innovator Award.
Our corporate training programmes are gaining in popularity and in frequency and the
level of satisfaction of the participants in these programmes is also rising. But, most
importantly, the success stories of our Alumni are truly heartening. Many of them are in
touch with us either through the Alumni Association or otherwise. These stories are a
source of great motivation not only to the high achievers themselves but also to their
colleagues.
If you, as a reader have a story to tell, waste no time and email it to us right away.
Good luck and good wishes!

It gives me immense joy to present the 2 issue of Pragati. The warm reception extended
to the 1 issue by our alumni, current learners, corporates and academics of the region has
been highly motivating. We hope this newsletter will give you a quick glimpse of the
School's activities as well as a better sense of connectedness with us.
The School crossed a major milestone in its journey in January 2010, when students of the
1 Batch of its flagship B.Tech.-Industrial Engineering & Management (Specialisation in
TQM), were conferred degrees during the 1 Convocation. It was a very emotional and
satisfying moment for all of us. Yet, the only thing constant in today's dynamic
environment is “change”. Therefore, the B.Tech programme, after a successful intake of 8
batches, has been totally revamped, and it is being launched in a new from July
2010 session. Our Alumni Association has come into being and vigorous activities are
around the corner. We are actively engaged in further expansion of our consulting and
corporate training activities.
As we move ahead, we look forward to your support and suggestions. Do write in and let
us know your thoughts!

Three years of B.Tech. with job and family pressures was always a tough decision. But, after 5
years of experience post-diploma, my career had reached a stage, where prospects of growth
were limited. So, despite all pressures I opted for this course. It is a unique programme, it is
more of interactive learning and knowledge sharing. All fellow students come from different
industries with huge work experience. It made me realize the vastness of industry and
processes. Experienced and dedicated faculty has immensely added to our knowledge. Study
material is very useful and simple. Learning is a natural process as part of this B.Tech.
All this knowledge and guidance from faculty has helped me enormously in my career. At the time of joining this
B.Tech programme, I was working in Sigma Freudenberg NOK as Development Engineer. Thereafter, during last
three years, I have progressed to the position of Quality Manager (UP) in HDFC Bank. I changed from
Manufacturing to Service industry, as I learnt that Quality is applicable everywhere. In the end, I would say, to
survive in today's competitive world we have to continually improve ourselves.

The story goes that some time ago, a man punished his 3-year-old daughter for
wasting a roll of gold wrapping paper. Money was tight and he became infuriated
when the child tried to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree.
Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift to her father the next morning and
said, "This is for you, Daddy.”
The man was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but his anger flared again
when he found out the box was empty. He yelled at her, stating, "Don't you know,
when you give someone a present, there is supposed to be something inside? The
little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and cried, "Oh, Daddy, it's not
empty at all. I blew kisses into the box. They're all for you, Daddy.”

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and he begged for her forgiveness.

Only a short time later, an accident took the life of the child. It is also told that her father kept that gold box by his
bed for many years and, whenever he was discouraged, he would take out an imaginary kiss and remember the
love of the child who had put it there.

In a very real sense, each one of us, as humans beings have been given a gold container filled with unconditional love andkisses... from our children, family members, friends, and God. There is simply no other possession, anyone could hold, moreprecious than this.
