Issue 14 - 17th April 2020 Updates @SandylaneBF Where everyone is equipped to excel Positive Respectful Inclusive Driven Excellent Dear all, As you will know, we all are now entering a new period of lockdown—another 3 weeks of doing what weve been doing recently. I know you all know this but all the messages you are hearing about the need for social distancing and staying home are SO important—so please keep adhering to it! As always, once we know more about if, when and how we will re-open, I shall contact you BUT I must emphasise we do not know any more than you—and we have, up til now, only received updates at same time as you. Let s hope we all have sufficient notice and clarity towards the end of this period—what I would say is try to avoid all the conjecture and guess work that seems rife at the moment; trying to second guess what schools etc will do in 3 weeks time is just that—guess work! Dont waste your energy on it! I know some of you will be starting to think of transition for your child and classes for September. I will be discussing this this half term with my team but no decisions on classes for September will be made until June. If we are not back in school by then, we will still be looking at involving children in giving their feelings on classes for September and youll also have an opportunity to give us any information you feel pertinent. We always have transition times to new classes and extra transition for children that need it—we will still plan for this even if it is virtually. We are currently in discussions with Secondary Schools to decide on best way forward for Year 6 transition to Year 7—rest assured ALL necessary information will be discussed and passed on between teachers for al children at the right time. Next Monday (20th April) is the start of the Summer Term! We wont be together to greet you all but we will be thinking of you. We shall be continuing with setting home learning which is available via our website and has a mixture of different subjects, some needing use of internet and some not. AS always, I want to repeat—home learning is NOT the most important thing; your childs, your and your familys well-being IS and you must do what fits you and your family best. That may entail more or less home learning than some—it doesnt matter, do what works for all of you! And when you can—READ! 1—This weeks project is on the website and attached to this weeks parentmail. Other home learning is be found on https:// www.sandylanebracknell.com/home-learning-1 (on CLOSURE tabs) 2—other resources or links that teachers feel are pertinent will be uploaded each week to each year group page on our Home Learning section of website https://www.sandylanebracknell.com/home-learning-1 (CLOSURE tabs) 3—Further links may be sent out on Twitter—see links below to keep up to date. ALL of the above are for you to use as you see fit—you are NOT expected to complete it all but it s there to support you and your child. Should you or your child need help with anything, please do speak to the class teacher during their weekly phone calls AND feel free to email us on address below and we shall do our utmost to help you. PLEASE DO ANSWER teacher phone calls—aside from us being able to keep in touch and help you where we can, it is also a necessity to ensure safeguarding of all children. If you miss a call and need a call back at a specific time, please email the relevant team on addresses below. Have a good start to the Summer Term! Remember—take care, stay home, stay safe.
