Kid’s Corner

Library

Last year we put in an application to get more books

for Oberon South’s library. Earlier this year

Dymock’s book store Waurn Ponds raised $2,100 on

books for Oberon South Primary and then Dymock’s

Children’s Charities in Sydney matched this with an-

other $2,100. So tomorrow Oberon South will have some guests from Dymock’s book store Waurn Ponds and

Sydney. Also with our whole schools support getting earn and learn stickers we have decided to make our library

a more comfy and relaxing place so all the earn and learn stickers are going to get us cushions for our school.

The books have all arrived and tomorrow 2nd August, we invite all parents and carers to come to our library ses-

sion at 9:00am on Friday to thank our Dymock’s visitors and chill out and read with us.

Thank you by Ayden and Emily

Our recycling program- blue and red bins

Here at school there are blue bins, red bins and also rubbish bins. In the blue bins you

put all types of paper and cardboard. In the red bins you also put cardboard as well as

plastic, glass bottles and jars, aluminum and steel cans and milk and juice cartons. Any

scraps go in the chook buckets in the eating areas and the kitchen, except you can’t

put citrus fruits like oranges, mandarins, and also onion peel and potato skin.

Recycling to support others - bottle tops

The junior end have come up with an idea and it involves supporting a company in Melbourne who have a 3D

printer to makes artificial hands for people that need them. Our school has started collecting bottle tops to help

this cause. Please help our Junior Representative Council with bringing along bottle tops. As soon as we get

enough bottle tops our school is going to send the bottle tops off to Melbourne so they can use a 3D printer and

send artificial hands to other countries that can use them. We did not want our recycling to go to the land fill we

would normally take all our rubbish to the land fill.

Butter in the Classroom Our class were learning to make butter with thick cream. We had to shake a jar full

of thick, white cream. We needed to shake the jar for 15-16 minutes.

As we shook the jar the cream separated to form a liquid and a solid. We removed

the solid butter and cleaned it. We wrapped the butter in gladwrap and refrigerated

it.

At the end of the day we tasted the butter. It tasted squishy and fatty!
