For Girls:

• The Ticket(s)- of course you have to get your tickets how else are you going to get in?? Even if your date bought you one just make sure before you buy one or don't get one.

• Prom Date- whether or not you have a boyfriend or girlfriend to go with you can always go as a group of people or just with your best friend(s)

• The Dress- I think once you choose the dress everything will fall into place. Always pick a dress you feel beautiful in and don't worry about what people think. This could be your only time to go to prom so make it the best.

• Hair Appointment- Your hairstyle depends on your dress. If you have a strapless have your hair down, if you have a V-neck then have your hair half-up, if you have a one shoulder do a side pony and if you have a high collar then put your hair

up. But anything will look beautiful!

• Shoes- If you are going to wear heals make sure you can walk in them first. They could be the perfect pair for the dress but after 20 minutes of standing your feet will want to kill you. So go with a pair that makes you comfortable the most.

• Jewelry- Don't go all out for jewelry sometimes you might not need it. If your dress is already really sparkly then just get a small shimmery diamond necklace and some really cute earrings.

• Nails- If you are wanting some acrylic nails then make your appointment very soon either the day before prom so that you won't break them. Choose colors that will accent your dress and it will look amazing.

• The Boutonnière- If you are going with a date that's wearing a tux remember to get one. Especially if your date is giving you a corsage. Just make sure the color of it looks good on both of you.

• Makeup- You definitely do not want to look like a clown, so go for a natural

or a light color kind of look. If anything you want your eyes to stand out all night so get some fake eyelashes but not the glamour ones just some that will accent them.

For Guys:

• The Ticket(s)- Whether you asked someone or not you should still get a ticket to go. If you do ask someone don't feel obligated to buy them a ticket just know beforehand.

• Prom Date- You don't have to go with anyone but your friends. Just go with a big group and you'll have just as a great time with a date or not.

• The Tux- If you have a date know what color they are wearing so you can coordinate the colors. Go get your tux fitted and pick it up close to the day of prom.

• Transportation- Knowing how your getting there is a big deal. I know this year we are going on a bus but that doesn't mean you still can't pick up your date in a really nice car or a limo.

Just make sure it's clean and know where everything is.

• Dinner- Make reservations as soon as you know where to go because everyone will want to go to that same place that same night so is prepared to call in and know what time for everything. Also it doesn't have to be fancy but be prepared for anything.

• Corsage- A corsage is that small flower thing that girls wear either on their dress or on their wrist. If you have a date then I recommend you get one. You should get it the day of and keep it in your fridge until it's time.

Haircut/trim- You will want to look your best for this one night so getting a trim or a new style for your hair could make everything look amazing. Just make sure you know what you want and everyone is happy with it. You do not want to be bald for prom.

Thursday, March 17th, here at Los Banos High, there was a job fair held in the Tiger Gym. This event that the school holds is very informational for students who do care. This event also carries many different people from their own career to come down and advertise or inform us students on how to get into that specific career. It is very helpful to be able to get to know how or where to go to get situated with schools or careers. For the most part, students take advantage of these Job Fairs to

get information that they need. If you didn’t use the time that was given to you, wisely, to provide yourself with a better chance at getting into something productive you would like after high school you might have missed out. As a student who cares about their future, we like when these are brought here to our school. It is very ideal, it gives us an idea of the many options we have to get up and go do something.

Whether it is school first before a career or straight into a specific job. Although a lot of students, who are seniors, usually know or have an idea of what they want to do, this can sometimes influence your thoughts on something positively and maybe a job or school will catch your attention. It is thoughtful for this to be brought into schools. Whoever first thought of this idea is a great person, because I believe this is really a great opportunity.

Swim By: Mikayla Akers

Last Friday, Swim had their first league meet against El Capitan in Merced. Boys and Girls were defeated by El Capitan, boys 115-53, and girls 113-57. “We were all unprepared and unfocused.” Says Savannah Graham. Although El Cap does have a very strong swim team, the team felt they could have competed more, and got more individuals wins. Next meet is March 24th at Pacheco. Go support your Tigers!

Water polo is a team water sport. The game consists of 4 quarters in which the two teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into their opponent's goal, with the team with the most goals at the end of the game winning the match. Water polo is a contact sport. Minor fouls occur frequently and exclusion fouls in which a player is suspended from the game for 20 seconds are common. William Wilson is thought to have developed the game during a similar period. The game thus developed with the formation of the London Water Polo League and has since expanded, becoming widely popular in various places around the world, including Europe, the United States, Brazil, China, Canada and Australia. The history of water polo as a team sport began as a demonstration of strength and swimming skill in late 19th century England and Scotland, where water sports and racing exhibitions was a feature of county fairs and festivals. Men's water polo was among the first team sports introduced at the modern Olympic games in 1900. Water polo is now popular in many countries around the world, notably Europe (particularly in Serbia, Russia, Croatia, Italy, Montenegro, Greece and Hungary, the United States, Canada and Australia. The rules of water polo are the rules and regulations which cover the play, procedure, equipment and officiating of water polo. By: Jesse Murguia

‘March Madness’ is the time of the annual NCAA college basketball tournament, usually throughout the month of March. The tournament typically starts from the first week of March and lasts through the first week of April. The NCAA tournaments are an American tradition that sends millions of fans into a synchronized frenzy each year. It is this chaos that gives the tournament its March Madness nickname. March Madness is the concentrated hype of sixty-eight teams vying for college basketball’s biggest prize. It’s the last-second buzzer-beating baskets, the euphoria of winning to play another day and the agony of losing and going home.

The tournament is made up of sixty-four teams, technically sixty-eight, but four preliminary games knock that number down. It is played one-and-done style. All the teams in the tournament are ranked or seeded. One through sixteen and sorted into four regions. Each round the numbers shrink, going from sixty-four to thirty-two to the sweet sixteen round followed by the Elite Eight. The Elite Eight determines the winners in each region. Those winners face off in the Final Four until there is only one team left standing in the Big Dance. This tradition has been going on for decades; it began in 1939. When it first began in 1939 it consisted of only eight teams, and soon after that it began growing constantly. The term ‘March Madness’ was originally from a high school basketball tournament in Illinois back in 1908, but then college basketball soon took it as their own. Do you keep up with March Madness?

Highlights: Stan State

Kelsey Biggs California State University Stanislaus is located in Turlock, California. This CSU is one of the smaller state universities in California, and is primarily a commuter campus. However, some students do decide to live on campus too. The girl to guy ratio is 10 to 1. Popular majors at this school include Business/ Marketing, Psychology, and Social Sciences. Because the campus is so small it does not have a football team, but they do have baseball, basketball, track and field and the list goes on. California State Universities are known for being pricey, but not as pricey as University of California campuses. Out of all the 23 California State University school’s, Stanislaus has a 8,000 dollar difference in the overall price a student will pay each year. The average a student will pay at Stanislaus is about 17,000, as compared to different CSU’s at 25,000. Personally, I have visited Stanislaus, and the campus is beautiful with gorgeous landscaping and outstanding buildings. Students that attend Stanislaus love the school and it’s safe feeling.

If You Could Have Any Celebrity as a Teacher?

By Vanessa Sanchez

I asked students if they could have any celebrity as a teacher who would they choose these are what the students responded. Neisa: I would have Ellen Page as a teacher because I feel Ellen and I could just hang out and talk about feminism, LGBTQ +, and she would not only teach well she would be emotionally involved in her students and she would also add in morals and life lessons. You know to give out a wide variety in education, not just the standards. Miranda: Betty White because she would be funny and not make me feel dead inside. Crystal: Tommy lee Jones. Because he’s old, wise and funny.

Vincent: Will Smith because he’s been an actor for a long time so he would have a lot of knowledge. Alton: I’d have Marilyn Manson for psychology. Kellan: Robert Downey Jr. He would be fun to have as a teacher. Chris: Chris Pratt. Gemma: Chace Crawford because he’s really good looking. Omar: Don Cheadle because he’s a real cool guy.

Sprinkle a tablespoon of cornstarch over top and then toss to coat. Repeat with the second tablespoon of cornstarch.

3. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium flame. Once the skillet and oil are hot, add the tofu cubes and fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides. Place the fried tofu in a large bowl.

4. Dice the red bell pepper and thinly slice the green onions. Pull the cilantro leaves from the stems and give them a rough chop. Slice the avocado.

5. Add the diced bell pepper to the bowl with the fried tofu. Pour ⅓ to ½ cup sweet chili sauce over top, and then stir until the bell pepper and tofu are coated in the sauce.

6. To build the bowls, start with one cup cooked rice, and then add ¼ of the tofu and bell pepper mixture. Add a few slices of avocado to the side of the bowl, and then sprinkle the sliced green onion, chopped cilantro, and sesame seeds over top. Enjoy!

We Need to go Back!

By: Daniel Rucobo As we progressively continue to grow, we tend to look back at the past to memories that we’d chuckle about and call “The Good Ol’ Days”. What if it were possible to go back in time? What would you do? I made it my goal to find out, what would people say to themselves if they could go back and see themselves as freshmen? “Be more open minded and probably be more confident about coming to high school, it’s not as bad as it seems” says Mia Valdivia, a senior that attends Los Banos High. When asked what made high school seem a bit scary she replied, “Well when you’re a little freshman it all seems so big. You’re coming to a new place and

seeing new faces everywhere, I guess it’s more of a fear of not knowing who’s who and where’s what.” Some people think of high school as a bit of a scary experience, but some people think that they should have accomplished more. “I’d probably go back and tell myself to do more sports or work harder. I don't much feel like I pushed myself to my full potential freshman year” says Lucas Adams, a junior at Los Banos High. We’ve all got our own opinions on high school, some people say they should have applied themselves more, such as Vanessa Infante who says, “I would definitely tell myself to study more and get better grades.” Other people, such as Mr. Garber (History Teacher), think that maybe they should have changed themselves when it came to their appearance. “You know I'd probably go back and tell myself that dragon shirts aren't as cool as I thought and I probably shouldn't wear them.” It takes you a bit by surprise to think how far you've come since your freshman year, especially if you think that it was only a few years ago. Well for us high school Junior’s and Senior's at least. Regardless if you're a student or a Los Banos High staff member, we all have something we'd go back and change.
