Mathematical challenges based on the fundamentals of skills all Humans should
possess. Mr. E. Mike has put together a variety of problems of you to solve. By solving
these problems, you will become smarter and more skilled at problem solving. Math
does not have to be boring.
Dot grids can be used to create a variety of tessellating patterns.
Regular and irregular polygons can be used to create these
tessellations.
Complete the pattern started on the dot grids below. Color the
patterns created.

The first labor of Hercules involved the slaying of a ferocious lion. The beast
has been terrorizing the land of Nemea. The Nemean Lion was said to have
skin that no weapon could pierce. Hercules tracked it to its cave and fought it.
He shot it with his bow but the arrows bounced off of it. He was forced to
strangle the monster. He used its own claws to cut its skin and wore the skin as
a coat.
An average lion kills about 15 times a year.
The Nemean Lion killed 36 of the villagers’
livestock every year. What percent is that
in comparison to the average lion?
If the Nemean Lion weighed 300 kg and the average
lion weighs 60 % of that, what is the weight of an
average lion?

The Nemean Lion consumed 12 kg of meat a day. What percent of its body weight is that? Assume
the lion weighs 300 kgs.
After Hercules killed the lion, he returned to King Eurystheus (pronounced yoo-ris-thee-uhs). The
king was so afraid of Hercules he hid in a huge jar and sent his heralds to talk to Hercules instead.
The jar was buried so that only 30% of it was above the ground. If 30 inches of the jar was above the
surface how tall in feet was the entire jar?
A lion can jump 10.8 meters horizontally.
The world record for the long jump is held
by Mike Powell for a jump of 8.95 meters.
For Mike Powell to equal that distance,
what would be the percent of increase
needed for his jump?

Plane and Simple are making sandwiches for their trip to Key
Largo. They are each going to eat 9 sandwiches. They want
to know how much each sandwich is going to cost. Look at
the list of ingredients and the price list. Use that
information to calculate the cost of each part of the
sandwich. Then find the cost of the total amount of
sandwiches needed for the trip.
Directions: Find the total cost for all the sandwiches
needed for the trip. Round you answers to the nearest
cent. Explain the steps you used to find your answer and
why you chose each step.

RawHead Warrior Puzzle The Rawheads are a race of fierce warriors. They hate everyone including
themselves. In order to stop the constant fighting Mr. E. Mike built 5 walls
that separated everyone of the Rawheads. Using only 5 straight lines.
Separate all the Rawheads into a space by themselves.

Math Dungeon Traps of DOOM the CROC Walk
In this dungeon, the only way to get to safety is to walk across a series of unstable platforms. The
platforms are all marked with numbers. Well equations that do create numbers. Solve the
equations to get the numbers. The safe platforms are all labeled with numbers that are part of the
famous Fibonacci sequence. Solve each problem. Trace the safe route through the dungeon. The
Fibonacci sequence begins like this 1,1,2,3,5,8,13... HINT: Numbers are not in any order.

Use the information to determine how much change each should get back from their bill.
We got $3.33 back. We can split this change evenly.
Not so fast Lazlo. We didn’t eat the same things.
Hey waiter! How about some change here?
Looks like you get a lot less back Lazlo.
I still think my way was easier.
Peppy
Speckle Lazlo
Each diner ate something different:
Peppy ate one hotdog, one order of small fries, and a small soda.
Speckle had a salad and an iced tea.
Lazlo ate a super burger and had a milk shake.
Each person chipped in five dollars to pay the bill.
Price List:
Hot dog = $1.68
Salad = $2.00
Small fries = $1.20
Super burger = $2.35
Milk shake = $2.25
Small soda = $0.80
Iced Tea = $1.39

This concludes the Spring Anti-Chaos addition of Absurd Math. Tower 23 and Mr. E. Mike are here to
provide power through mathematics and bring an end to boring math problems. Always Think for Yourself.
Math is true, Math is power, Math exists without out us. We can only discover it and utilize its power.
