SSA FUNDRAISING FOR NEPAL ………….. 6
The 8th Business Meeting: Power Up! The 8th Business Meeting, was held on 22 May 2015 at the Singapore Expo, where updates on the Group’s performance and the latest projects and initiatives undertaken by the various BUs were shared. PCEO Alex Hungate opened the event by sharing on the encouraging results of SATS Group for FY 14/15. He elaborated on the theme for this event – Power Up! — which encourages us to build on our SATS heartware in order to contribute to the growth of the future SATS. The BU representatives then took the stage to share more on their recent projects in a fun and light-hearted manner. The storyline was on one man’s quest to become a Hero. The representa-tives were: Nicholas Ong (Institutional Catering) as the Hero, Clarence Tan (Inflight Catering) as Kungfu Panda, Valerie Gho (Passenger Services) as Care Bear, Eunice Kuah (Cargo Services) as Harry Potter, Siti Nur Aisyah Karim (Apron Ser-vices) as Jedi, and Andrew Yong (Security Ser-vices) as James Bond.
This was followed by a mind-blogging puzzle game, where colleagues were randomly grouped together to crack their brains to solve the ques-tions.
Thereafter, there was a Q&A session with the Senior Management, where they shared their thoughts and answered questions from the audi-
ence on SATS projects and upcoming future. The event was wrapped up with a team-
building musical activity. Equipped with drums,
tambourines, wooden tone blocks and other
musical instruments, the participants collabo-
rated and took the lead from PCEO Alex to
perform a rendition of Beethoven’s “Ode to
Joy”.
In concluding the 8th Business Meeting, Alex
highlighted the importance of collaboration and
he urged all to share the key takeaways to col-
leagues who were not present.
AVP, TARP of HC, Kang Seoklin commented,
“My team and I wanted to come up with some-
thing engaging which would allow the audience
to participate and take back the key learning
points. We are glad to see that this was well-
received by everyone!”
SVP HC, Lilian Tan, added, “The Business
Meeting is a one of our key events in
SATS. where PCEO and the respective
BUs provide us with their updates and
initiatives. HC will continue to work hard
and ’Power Up’ to serve you better!”

Our Mobile Web App Page! The Mobile Web App, which is an initiative by the Human Capital Team, was launched with a road-show at SICC1 on 07.07.2015. The purpose of the web app page is to enable HC to better engage with our colleagues at the various locations with the latest news, information and privileges. During the roadshow, HC took time to teach our colleagues how to access the Mobile Page which can be done in various ways: 1) Scan the QR code from the stickers that are placed at the various locations around SATS 2) Key in the URL (bit.ly/satsmobile) on the web browser 3) “Bookmark” or “Add to Your Homepage” for easy reference in the future! In conjunction with SG50 celebrations, colleagues who had bookmarked the webpage on their phone had received a small treat of Singaporeans’ all-time favorite biscuits such as Super Rings, Pocky, Ovaltine sweets, hawflakes, cotton candy and piring wafer biscuits. Birthday cakes and ang ku kuehs were given to our colleagues whose birthday month is in July. We overheard a few of their friends were exclaiming “I didn’t know that it’s your birthday soon!” and they wished them ‘happy birthday’. A DJ was also engaged to conduct interactive activities with our colleagues at the canteen. Volun-teers (or those who were “sabo-ed”!) had to play ‘capteh’, guess-the-songs and mini quizzes. Some of our colleagues had made song dedications and sang along to their favorite songs in the canteen! We hope that you find the mobile web app most useful. Do look out for our sessions will be held at other locations soon! Should our colleagues have any comments or feedback, please do contact HC through this e-mail address!
“The SATS Mobile Web AppPage represents HC’s commitment to better engage and communicate with our colleagues at various locations through the usage
of innovative technology!”

SATSWU Activities Day On 16 May 2015, SATSWU held their annual Activities Day. The Guest-of-Honour was NTUC As-sistant Secretary-General, Ms Joanne Cham. This year, as part of the planned SG50 activities, the Management, together with AESU, participated in the bowling and soccer matches with the Unions. Bowling To start the ball rolling (pun unintended!) at SAFRA Tampines, PCEO Alex, SVP HC Lilian, GS Guna, and ASG Joanne proceeded to each lane to release their bowling balls. Guess who man-aged to score a “strike” to knock down all the pins? The crowds cheered when they saw PCEO managed to score a “strike”. GS Guna laughed, “Alex must have been saving his skills to show everyone!” Soccer Under the blazing afternoon the Management, AESU and SATSWU proceeded to gather for a soc-cer match at SIA Sports Club. Each team consisted of a good mix of players from the Management, AESU and SATSWU Exco. After an intense kick-off, the blue team—led by PCEO Alex and GS Guna won by 2-0! Eechin Guay of ER, HC, who was present at the event, shared, “This is literally a friendly match! It was heartwarming because both teams would cheer for each other whenever they had the ball with them!” During the event, PCEO thanked SATSWU for organising the event as it brought together the Man-agement and Unions. Said GS Guna, “I would like to thank the Management and AESU for taking time to support partici-pate in this event. This was definitely appreciated by SATSWU and their members and employees of SATS.”
As part of SSA’s ongoing commitment in Corporate Social Responsibility, a SG50 Mini Golf session was organised for the Management and AESU and SATSWU EX-CO to participate in a mini golf session where they had to care and have fun with children from disadvantaged backgrounds and suffering from critical illnesses. Through a common cause, the Management and the Unions got to know each other in a different way. They exhibited a sense of warmth and gentleness to these young children that we may not see at the workplace. Over informal conversations, the Management and the Unions shared how sympa-thetic they felt towards the children and their families. All of them shared a same hope that these children would recover soon. SVP Lilian shared, “Volunteering brings happiness and people together. Through this activity, we felt a sense of fulfillment being able to bring happiness to these chil-dren who are suffering from cancer. HC and SSA certainly look forward to collabo-rating with the Unions for more volunteering activities.”

Special Feature: A Kind Act by Loading Assistant, Yeoh Boo Eng
Psssst—A little bird shared with us this
story!
We were so impressed that we wanted to
share it with our readers of We@SATS!
One of our employees, Yeoh Boo Eng
(left), Loading Assistant of Cabin Ser-
vices 2, had found a bag belonging to a
passenger containing over $20,000!
His honesty was recognised by the Management and Ca-
tering. We@SATS presents an exclusive interview with Mr.
Yeoh Boo Eng (YBE).
We@SATS: Hi Mr. Yeoh, we heard how you had re-
turned a bag of money to a passenger. Could you
share with us what happened?
YBE: I was performing my duties as per usual and I spotted
a black bag in the aircraft. I was shocked when I saw so
much money inside. My first thought was to quickly return
the money to the passenger .
We@SATS: How did you manage to locate the passen-
ger?
YBE: I immediately ran to the security and asked them to
re-open the gate. I got the Counter Staff to page for the
passenger to proceed to the Lost & Found in the Arrival
Hall.
We @SATS: What were your thoughts while you were
waiting for the passenger to arrive?
YBE: (Laughs) I was feeling anxious! It was a huge amount
of money! I felt relieved only when the pax arrived at Lost &
Found and tallied the amount of monies to be correct. He
was very grateful but we could not talk much because I had
to complete another flight.
We@SATS: We are really impressed by your initiative
to return the money to our passenger.
YBE: (Humbly) I think SATS is a company that remuner-
ates their employees fairly. The salary which we receive is
part of doing our job and I have done what I am supposed
to. It is important for us to give every person a positive im-
pression of SATS, Changi Airport and Singapore.
We@SATS: Would you have any other stories to share
with our readers at We@SATS?
YBE: (Laughs) I once found a BlackBerry belonging to an
Indonesian businesswoman. Apparently, it contained im-
portant information. She was relieved when I had managed
to trace and return it to her Singapore-based company.
I thought this was a simple gesture. But about a month lat-
er, her secretary actually called to ask for my address so
she could send me a bottle of wine. I had politely refused
because I was just doing my job!
We@SATS is pleased to share that Mr Yeoh’s act was recognised by PCEO Alex, SVP Lilian and within Catering BU. PCEO Alex had personally thanked Yeoh Boo Eng on his initiative and honesty. Alex added that Yeoh Boo Eng is a role model to many of us in SATS.
We@SATS SG50 Special Interview with RSM Haron Kosnan Referee for SEA Games, Sepak Takraw
In June 2015, our very own colleague from Ramp Services,
Haron Kosnan, participated in the 28th SEA Games as a
referee for sepak takraw.
We@SATS is pleased to present an exclusive interview
with Haron to gain some insight of his love for the game!
We@SATS: Hi Haron. Thanks for agreeing to do this
interview! We heard that you were the referee for the
SEA Games in sepak takraw! How did you feel about
it?
Haron: I feel honoured especially because the 28th SEA
Games was held at home in Singapore. The atmosphere
was different because our family and friends were present
cheering us on. I am proud that Team Singapore managed
to achieve 1 Silver and 3 Bronzes.
We@SATS: How did you started being a referee for
sepak takraw?
Haron: It is my passion— I used to play for schools and
clubs. As I got older, I wanted to contribute to the sport in a
different way and I subsequently signed up for coaching
and referee courses.
I have been a regional referee for 14 years. To be a good
referee, you need to know the rules of the game at the
back of your hand. Impartiality is very important as well.
We@SATS: We are wondering what
makes a good sepak takraw team in Singapore?
Haron: It requires commitment, teamwork and good sports-
manship. We are a family who hang out and encourage
each other. We have meals together from time to time as
well. These help to strengthen a team’s friendship and
bond.
We@SATS: We were sorry to hear that one of the na-
tional team players, Azreen, met in an accident during
the SEA Games. How did the team cope with that?
Haron: The team was upset when they heard the news. At
the same time, it also made them more determined to not
let Azreen down. They drew strength from their family,
friends and supporters from the home crowd.
We@SATS: Would you like to add anything else for our
readers at We@SATS?
I would like to thank the Management for granting me the
permission to participate in the SEA Games. I have also
received much support from our colleagues as well.
I am an enthusiast for the sepak takraw sport, I hope that I
can continue to inspire the younger generation in their love
for the game, and most importantly, the values of good
sportsmanship such as collaboration, fairness and respect
for one another.
We, at SATS, are certainly impressed by how Haron, in his own way, has represented Team Singapore in
sepak takraw in the regional arena! Keep it up!”
- SVP HC Lilian
“Haron, Ramp is certainly proud of how you have contributed to the sporting spirit in Singapore through your passion for sepak
takraw. “
