Basic biology research shows that the haemostatic components and the cancer biology are interlinked in multiple ways. Nonetheless, it is noteworthy that while a group of cancer cells is capable of activating the clotting system, haemostatic factors play a role in tumor progression. In this research a novel 4-S lactam derivative was obtained through microwave assisted methodology as a promising leader for the development of new antitumor drugs. Moreover this original compound was selectively toxic to the HCT-116 cell line with low inhibitory Factor Xa (FXa) effect. Details are presented in the Communication Microwave Assisted Synthesis of Novel Six-Membered 4-C, 4-O and 4-S Lactams Derivatives: Characterization and in vitro Biological Evaluation of Cytotoxicity and Anticoagulant Activity by Nicolás E. Núñez-Navarro, Gerardine F. Segovia, Renato A. Burgos, Carlos F. Lagos, Nataly Fuentes-Ibacache, Mario A. Faúndez and Flavia C. Zacconi on page 203.
