Australian Standard AS2293.1-2005AustralianStandardAS2293.1-2005specifiesthatthelightlevelatthefloor,underemergencylightingconditions,mustbeaminimumof0.2lux.Theilluminancelevelatthefloorwillbedependentuponboththelightoutputofthefittingandtheheightatwhichthefittingismountedabovethefloor.

Emergencylightfittingsaretestedandbasedonperformance,assignedclassificationsinanumberofclasses(ClassAtoClassE).Fittingswithasinglelightsourcearegenerallyclassifiedintwoaxis,C0andC90.Fittingswithtwolightsourcessuchasa2x36Wbattenaregenerallyassignedclassificationsinthreeaxis–C0,C90andC180asthelightdistributionisnotsymmetrical.

ThespacingtablesinAustralianStandardAS2293.1-2005canbeusedtodeterminethemaximumspacingbetweenfittingsineachoftheseveralaxis,dependentupontheclassificationofthefitting.
