Certification Management Systems

Delivering global certification standards to our customers

Accreditation is a 3rd party confirmation process that verifies that the SABS is competent to perform the specific tasks for which we hold accreditation.

ISO 50001 - Accredited by SANAS

The laboratories are accredited to ISO 17025 (SANAS).

Certification is accredited to ISO 17021 (SANAS and RvA) for management systems and 17065 (SANAS) for product certification.

Annually SANAS and RvA audits the SABS laboratories, systems and processes to ensure that global requirements are met and that the SABS is competent to deliver verification and testing services.

SANAS is recognised by the South African Government in Act 19 of 2006 as the single National Accreditation Body that gives formal recognition that Laboratories, Certification Bodies, Inspection Bodies, Proficiency Testing Scheme Providers and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) test facilities are competent to carry out specific tasks

The RvA is a private organisation appointed by the Dutch government in 2010 as the national accreditation body based on European Regulation 765/2008. Their primary task consists of accrediting and renewing the accreditations of conformity-assessment bodies: laboratories, inspection bodies, certification bodies and verification bodies.

Certification is a conformity assessment process whereby an independent neutral body confirms that a product or servicecomplies with relevant specifications or standards

Certification is a voluntary process whereby a company will request a conformity assessment body (CB) to test their managementsystem or product against a relevant standard

Certification Process

1. Evaluate site location and site-specific conditions. Confirm the scope and boundaries of certification and justification for

exclusions. Confirm Number of the number of EnMS effective personnel.

2. Evaluate the evidence that all the requirements of the Standard have been addressed.

3. Evaluate if all significant energy users were identified.

4. Review internal audit plans and results for previous 6 months (including internal auditors and their qualifications).

5. Review the Management Review planning and results for the previous 6 months.

6. Review objective, targets and action plans.

7. Evaluate the Energy Planning Process.

8. Determine the Statutory and Regulatory requirements as related to the relevant Standard.

9. Determine if the EnMS is ready for Stage 2

Certification Process - Stage 1: Scoping Audit

Audit team will split and focus on the following two areas: Documentation Requirements Energy Technical Areas

Documentation Requirements:ISO 50001 – Policy, Scope & Boundaries, Context of the Organization, Leadership, Management Review, Internal Audits, Corrective action, Procurement, Competence & Training

Energy Technical Areas:1. Action to address risk and opportunities,2. Established objective and energy targets and determine level of compliance,3. Energy review conducted,4. Method of determining and updating of energy performance indicators (EnPI),5. Establishment of the baseline, 6. Performance Evaluation,7. Monitoring, Measurement, Analysis and Evaluation of Energy Performance,8. Legal requirements.

Conformation of energy performance improvement must be demonstrated for granting

and maintain of certification.

If energy performance cannot be demonstrated certification will not be granted.
