What components areas are supply management professionals responsible for?
Who is the average CPSM and what do they do?
A supply manager who provides leadership by aligning resources to
define and satisfy diverse internal and external customer needs through the acquisition and ongoing management
of materials and services.
CPSM Program Requirements
Three years of experience in supply management Full-time; professional; non-clerical, non-support
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university (or the international equivalent)
Successful passing of the Bridge Exam with a valid C.P.M. OR Successful passing of the three CPSM exams
These requirements will not change.

Educational degrees beyond Bachelors do not reduce requirements
No grandfathering from C.P.M. to CPSMYou must take the Bridge ExamOr ALL three (3) of the CPSM Exams

What do the CPSM Exams look like?
Exam 1 – Foundation of Supply Management 165 questions (150 scored) 2 hours and 45 minutes allowed
Exam 2 – Effective Supply Management Performance165 questions (150 scored) 2 hours and 45 minutes allowed
Exam 3 – Leadership in Supply Management180 questions (165 scored)
3 hours allowed
Bridge Exam – 180 questions (all scored) 3 hours allowed
* All exam scores are valid for three (3) years
Levels of Learning being Tested
Recall – define, identify and select information
Comprehension - estimate or predict based upon circumstances described
Application – draw on knowledge and experience to identify the solution
Primary focus of CPSM Exam questions are application and comprehension with minimal recall knowledge being tested.
Types of Questions & Scoring
The CPSM professional credentialing exam utilizes four option multiple choice questions – choose the “Best” answer.
CPSM scores range between 100 and 600 with a scaled score of 400 or greater as passing. Scores are presented in increments of 10.

CPSM Bridge Exam
The Bridge will be a single exam covering contemporary subject matter and content not covered in the current C.P.M. Exam.
The Bridge Exam will be available to test through the end of 2014.
The Bridge was not available during Pilot Testing. The first Bridge Exams were given at ISM’s Annual Conference on May 7, 2008.
Candidates must be currently certified as C.P.M. in order to take the Bridge Exam and at time of application for CPSM.

Customizable courseware: Instructor & Participant guides and PowerPoint deck for Exams 1, 2 & 3 and the Bridge Exam.
Check the ISM Web site to sign up for future courses both Face-to-Face and Web-based.
The registration fee is US$100 and attendees must have the CPSM Study Guide as a reference.
Pilot Exam- How did it go?
Over 2,500 CPSM Exams were administered during the 2 month Pilot Testing period.
What countries participated?China, France, Jamaica, Japan, Korea, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, and the United States
Results…pass rates are between 65 - 70% (similar to those for the C.P.M. program)
Testing available?
Pearson VUE Testing Centers via computer, on-demand, Exams 1, 2, 3 and Bridge
Paper & Pencil at Affiliate Leadership Training in 2008
Select conferences Onsite testing available for groups taking a
minimum of 5 exams per administration.
CPSM Recertification Requirements
Every three (3) years with 60 Continuing Education Hours (CEHs)
Categories for earning CEHs – college courses & seminars (taken or taught), contributions to the profession, membership, articles.
Candidates will be able to retake each CPSM Exam for 20 CEHs but only in their last year of certification or during their grace period.
