Festivals

Nrsmha Caturdasi

On Monday 16th May we celebrated Nrsmha

Chaturdasi. e temple room was decorated

with bright coloured cloth and fresh owers.

We were very fortunate to have elaborate

discourses by Ramanuja dasa & Tribanghananda

dasa (ACBSP) on pastimes of Lord Nrsmhadev

and his appearance. In the afternoon Nrsmha

shila abhisek was performed amidst a roaring

kirtan by Deva Deva dasa and Sundar Nitai dasa.

A wonderful feast was served in the evening at

7:30 to around 350 guest. After which there was

more ecstatic kirtan led by Radha Londonisvara

dasa and his team with HH Chandramauli Swami

and devotees dancing very enthusiastically till

late into the night.

Baldev and Subhadra.

At 12:30 Rajbhoga arati, their Lordships made an

appearance in elephant costume (Hathives). In

the afternoon a massive feast was to more than

450 devotees.

A special thanks to Illavati devi dasi and Dattani

family for coming and preparing all the sweets

and savouries beforehand under the instruction

of Bhakta iru.

Later in the afternoon just after dhoop arati,

the pujaris announced that their Lordships had

unfortunately caught a cold from the bathing in

the morning and would have to rest in the VIP

room for next couple of weeks.

Snan Yatra

On Sunday 29th May - Snanayatra was celebrated,

this is third time that the celebrations were held

at Soho street.

e day started with enthusiastic kirtans and

short class by Vaiyaski dasa in seminar room

as Titiksu dasa and his team prepared bathing

gaths and make arrangements for bathing their

Lordships.

Bathing started around 8:45 with senior devotees

and the singing of Jagannatha astakam by Vasana

Harini devi dasi and continued with the melodius

singing of Vaiyaski dasa and Nurhari dasa.

HH Atmanivedana swami spoke on the pastime of

Hathives and the appearance of Lord Jagannath,

Deity WelcomingOn the 30th we celebrated a very most auspicious

occasion the deity welcoming at the home of

Sulabh dasa.

e welcoming was attended by many devotees

and was over seen by Murli Manohara dasa.

e deities were oered the names Gaura

Chandra and Khoda Nitai.

Brahmacaris Go To

Hungaryis month the Soho St Brahmacaris took a one

week break in Hungary.

While spending time in the tranquil atmosphere

of New Vraja Dham they attended the Nrsimha

Caturdasi festival and Sivarama Mahrajas Vyas

Puja.

CommunityDevelopment

Team achievements for May

e rst ever Hare Krishna Course (aimed at the

general public to help raise awareness of Krishna

consciousness) was held with 12 very enthusiastic

attendees, some of whom had never visited the

temple before. e feedback from all participants

was very positive and we will be looking to run

the course again in the near future.

Another round of e Essence of Bhagavad

Gita course is also currently under way with 4

regular attendees.

Radha-Londonisvara dasa joined the

community development team this month.

He will primarily be engaged in supporting our

community through home visits and programs.

Finally a spontaneous japa workshop was

organised by one of the follow up callers

(as a result to requests during calls) with 3

community members all very new to chanting

on japa attending.

carried out the following activities:

2nd Counselee meeting in Crawley

7th Attending South regional meeting in

Brighton

12th Home visit with Maha Nrsingha and

Param Sundari

13th Home program with the Dattani family

14th Attended UK management council

meetings in Leicester

16th Celebrated the Nrsingha Caturdasi

festival in Soho St

17th - Meeting with Dina Dayadra and Jennifer

27th Arranged a program in Crawley with

Nruhari dasa and Radhalondonisvara dasa

29th Celebrated Snan Yatra at Soho St and

spent the evening in Crawley at the home

of Naresh and Bhavana celebrating their son

Kishens 21st Birthday.

30th Attending the deity welcoming of Sulabh

prabhu

Book DistributionDuring May we distributed 2,811 books,

collected 5,520 for 1,741.75 book points.

Govindas Restaurant takings for May 2011:

50,052.22, of this amount:

Catering 630.00 & Books 60.50

* Average per day for restaurant: 1,614.59
