VCALstudents have been studying a TAFE course of their choice one day a week in addition to completing studies inliteracy, numeracy, and personal skills development.
Pastoral Care
Our Pastoral Care Program (PCP) is concerned primarily with the emotional, academic and moral well-being of thestudents and is an integral part of the school culture. Each class is assigned a Pastoral Care Teacher (PCT) andMentor who works collaboratively and in unison with the college’s staff, parents and students to provide individualcare and support in all areas of child and adolescent development.
Use of ICT
In 2011, our school has continued to strongly emphasize the use of cutting edge technology to enhance teaching and learning.Extensive financial commitments have been made to develop the ICT infrastructure at our school including thedevelopment of software, hardware, technical support, ICT labs and the introduction of the Interactive Whiteboards. Interactive Whiteboards were installed into most secondary classrooms in 2010 to compliment ICT in the curriculum and in 2011 IWB were installed into the remaining classrooms. After receiving ongoing professional development teachers are actively using the Interactive Whiteboard Technology as an innovative way to enhance teaching and learning and facilitateassessment in their classes. In 2011 students also used Studywiz as a medium for communication with their teachers.
Infrastructure
In 2011 in many of our campuses new facilities were opened for student usage. The new education resource centre at the Eastmeadows campus has become a hub for learning for all students from prep to year 12. The centre features an auditorium which is being utilised for year level home group sessions, lectures by various guest
speakers and for large group audio visual session. Other features include computers areas, reading room, year 12 study room, study areas and of course a variety of book to engage readers of all ages and abilities.
