The devices ISC-CM plus and ISC-FC plus are electrical equipment that permit

the operation of a feeding device in an ISC plus system. They offer the

following functions: ISC-CM plus: Feeding controller with software and hardware that permit

the functional connection to the ISC plus system.

ISC-FC plus: - Drive controller for a threephase-current drive.

- Is controlled serially by the ISC-CM plus.

ISC-VC plus: - Vibration amplitude controller for a vibrating conveyor

- Is controlled serially by the ISC-CM plus.

The equipment of the feeding device with the component groups is only

possible, if • the software of the ISC-CM plus supports the functions of the device.

• the hardware of the ISC-CM plus permits a functional control of the device

(if necessary via further electrical equipment, e.g. an ISC-FC plus).

• a control unit is integrated within the ISC plus system that permits a safe

operation/parameterisation of the ISC-CM plus.

The use in accordance with the intended purpose of the ISC plus component

groups requires the compliance of the requirements with the valid standards,

guidelines etc. and with this manual.

Make sure that the electric components of the ISC plus system are operated

exclusively by qualified operating personnel. The operating personnel • is specially trained for the operations and authorised to carry out these

operations,

• is familiar with the functions of the device,

• is familiar with the functions of the software of the ISC-CM plus and the

connected operating unit,

• is trained for a safe behaviour during a failure,

• complies with the specifications given in the documentation.

The following specifications have to be complied with for the protection of the

electronic components and circuits: • The connection work has to be carried out carefully. Make sure to take

protective measures against static discharges that risk to destroy

electronic components.

• The electronic components always have to be closed correctly to protect

them against contaminations.

• The opening of the devices is only allowed, if this is required due to an

activity and if this is possible regarding the contamination of the

environment.

- The open phase has to be kept as short as possible.

- Protect the devices against contamination by means of increased care

and possibly also by additional protective measures.

- Before re-locking the devices make sure to remove all foreign bodies.

ISC plus systems have to be earthed with a sufficient section (16² mm) and

large area contacts. With an inappropriate earthing the voltage peaks of the

ISC-FC plus risk to destroy electronic component groups of the ISC-CM plus.

The ISC-FC plus requires a mains supply with neutral conductor (TT/TN

network). An operation without neutral conductor would cause damage to the

ISC-FC plus due to the missing equipotential bonding. If connected to a mains without neutral conductor the ISC-FC plus must only be

operated with a suitable isolation transformer.

Mains connection is only permitted with polarity reversal protection.

Input choke for the reduction of the peak current during charging The protective charging circuit in the frequency converter of the ISC-FC plus

permits a high peak current when switching on the device. Especially for the

connection of several ISC-FC plus to a feed line or a fuse the peak current

during charging might destroy the electronic components of the ISC-CM plus.

a contactor on the input side or a main switch.

For the protection of persons by means of a residual current protection device

(RCD) the use of a residual current circuit breaker (sensitive to all kinds of

current) with a rated differential current of IN = 30mA between the supplying

mains and the ISC-FC plus is recommended.

Due to the use of a RCD false trippings may be caused by the following

reasons: • capacitive equalising currents, especially with long cable runs.

• the use of additional interference filters.

• the simultaneous connection of several ISC-FC plus.

The 24V power unit of the ISC-FC plus or ISC-VC plus supplies the voltage for

the ISC-CM plus. It must not be employed for the supply of the component

groups on site or other component groups of the feeding device.

The ISC plus system is a control system based on a field bus for the control and

the monitoring of feeding devices. A serial bus interface permits the

communication between the feeding controllers of the feeding devices (ISC-

CM plus) and the operating unit. The bus interface can be provided with

different interface types (ISC field bus, Ethernet IP, Ethernet Modbus TCP,

Profinet or Profibus DP).

The full functionality and the configuration possibilities for the software of the

feeding controller are only achieved if the ISC field bus is employed with an

operating unit type Congrav® OPx (x= 5, 12, …) or the connection of a

notebook/PC (with the software Smart Service) to the service port (SP).

The figures show the construction scheme for an ISC plus system with the ISC

field bus as bus interface. Each weigh-feeder is connected to the ISC field bus

via the ISC-CM plus, it is marked and can be addressed by a unique

identnumber (IDx).

The ISC-CM plus is a processor-based feeding controller. The housing of the ISC-

CM plus is a closed junction box. The board of the ISC-CM plus is mounted in

this junction box. The terminal strips permit the electrical connection of the

periphery and of the ISC field bus. The cables are lead via metal screw joints

(EMC protection) into the junction box. The ISC-CM plus is neither equipped

with enter keys nor with a display unit for the operation. A suitable external

operating unit is required for this purpose. Possible connections for the ISC-CM

plus: 1. Connection to an operating unit type Congrav® OP x (x= 5, 12, …) to the

ISC field bus.

2. Connection of a laptop/PC (with the software “Smart-Service”) to the ISC

field bus via a “service port”.

3. Connection of a single controller type Congrav® OP1 or OP1 T

4. Serial connection of an operating unit on site via one of the available host

computer interfaces.

Operating unit on site: The software of the ISC-CM plus cannot be configured completely with the

available host computer interfaces. All functions are only available on the ISC

field bus. For this reason the ISC field bus always needs to be cabled with a

“service port” if you employ an operating unit on site.

The ISC-CM plus • permits to set the identnumber of the feeding device for the identification

on the ISC field bus,

• permits to connect the ISC field bus,

• permits to connect the host computer interface.

• permits to connect the periphery of the feeding device.

The software of the ISC-CM plus determines the functional possibilities of the

ISC-CM plus. According to these possibilities • the ISC-CM plus monitors and controls the operation of the device,

• the connected periphery is employed,

• the ISC field bus or the host computer interface permit to communicate

As a rule, the ISC plus component groups are already preassembled in our

works. This preassembly includes • the mounting/fastening to the corresponding feeder,

• the cabling to the internal electrical component groups of the feeder

(drive motor etc.) With the ISC component groups.

This chapter describes the mounting work to be carried out on site for the

operation of the feeder and the component groups. The works carried out in

our factory are not described.

The descriptions are rather general and do not take into account customer

specifications for operating conditions. They are taken into account in the

customer-specific connection plans. If customer-specific connection plans have

been edited for the corresponding delivery, they are included as a separate

document in the documentation folder.

The ID number is fixed by means of the rotary switch (SW2) and a slide switch

(SW3) on the ISC-CM plus board. The operating unit addresses the ISC-CM plus

via the identnumber. Each identnumber must only be assigned once in the ISC

plus system (unambiguousness!)

In general, there is no order for the determination of the ID number in an ISC

plus system. For a better assignment we recommend a determination

according to the order on the ISC plus field bus.

As an alternative to the ISC field bus the Profibus interface (terminals) or the

Ethernet interface (plug) can be connected to an on-site operating unit. The

functional possibilities of the available interface procedures are described in a

separate manual.

In general, the Ethernet/Profibus procedures have less functional possibilities

The adjustment of the vibration amplitude to the control signal is made by

means of the two potentiometers “amplitude MIN“ and “MAX“ (front of the

device). 1. Adjust the minimum working point (~9%) and change the lower limit of

the amplitude (“Min“) until you reach the desired vibration amplitude.

2. Adjust the maximum working point (~90%) and change the upper limit of

the amplitude (“Max“) until the desired vibration amplitude has been

reached.

3. Check the min/max adjustment once again, as the settings of both

potentiometers slightly influence one another.

Automatic operation (controlled resonance frequency) Characteristics: • DIP switch 1 = “ON“

No maintenance work is required for the ISC plus component groups. Damaged

devices must generally be replaced. A repair is not allowed.
