APHRODITE
• This book written in
1998 was placed
on the New York
Times Bestsellers
list.
• This book is a mix
of recipes, stories,
naughty tales and
more.
• It combines sex and
food in a whole new
way.
Opening line begins
with “I repent of my
diets, the delicious
dishes for making love
that I let go by”.
She wrote the book to
remember life after the
lose of her daughter the
year before.
What I think that Isabel is
trying to say her is that
we need to live life to our
fullest potential. Life is
more about what you do
with your time then what
you don’t do with.
What Is life? An illusion ,
a shadow, a fiction
For all of life is a dream
And Dreams? Dreams are
dreams.
ABOUT THE BOOK The function of this
book is to celebrate life.
She wrote this book to
get out of her
depression from the
death of her daughter.
It is a collection of short
stories by her friends.
There is a collection of
her favorite recipes.
There is a section all
about your tongue.
The whole book is
talking about sex and
how great it is.
RELATE TO HISTORYThe 1990’s was all about discovery of the
human body and sexuality. As well as an
awareness of homophobia.
1993 Clinton signs “don’t ask don’t tell”,
which prohibits openly gay or bisexual people
from serving in the military.
Clinton and the Lewinskey scandal 1998-1999
Gay college student Matthew Shepard was
brutally murdered 1999
IMPACT I feel that this book has had and impact on the
way that the US looks at sex and sexuality.
The whole nation was becoming more aware
of gay pride and bisexuality.
Now a days we have a very strong connection
and awareness of gay and bisexual behaviors.
To the point where was are not discussing gay
marriage.
