Isaac Levitan 1860-1900
Levitan was a classical Russian landscape painter. He was born in 1860 into a poor but educated Jewish family. In the late 1860s, the family moved to Moscow, where Isaac studied from 1873 till 1883 at the Moscow School of Painting and Sculpture. He lost his mother in 1875 and his father two years later.In 1877, Isaac Levitan's works were first publicly exhibited and earned favorable recognition. He was buried in Dorogoilovo Jewish cemetery.Levitan didn't have a family or children.
