Reading

• This year your child is responsible for knowing all of the letters of the alphabet and the sounds they make. Please make sure your child knows not only the “ABC song”, but that they can identify letters out of ABC order by sight and sound. This is SO important as they are beginning to learn to read!

Math• Sherman ISD has implemented a Math program called

C-SCOPE. This program involves lots of materials and hands-on activities for understanding concepts. Because this is a hands-on program, your child may not be bringing home a lot of papers for you to look at.

• For math your student is responsible for being able to recognize, count, and write numbers 1-20.

• Your student needs to be able to orally count numbers 1-100 by the end of the year.
