Can you believe Summer is over?
Can you feel fall (?!?) in the air? Well, it
is. In September we “kick off” our pro-
grams. To begin this, we have our KICK
OFF Sunday with a picnic – hot dogs and
hamburgers after the 10:30 service.
We are going to try to offer something
every month that can involve the entire
parish. You can select the ones that appeal
to you. This will be a great opportunity to
meet the parishioners that you do not see at
weekly services. On September 21st at 6
pm there will be an ice cream social and
game night. Bring a game and/or a partner
and be prepared for a fun filled evening.
Check throughout the Chimes for informa-
tion for some additional events.
Thank you Brittany Traudt! For insurance
purposes, we needed to photograph all our
assets. This included computers, printers,
organ, vestments, and a host of other items.
Brittany took the pictures, put them to
disk, and made a listing.
Florida has a fall baseball season. We have
a ballpark across the street. We want
young families to know we support them.
See where this is going? Yes, St Andrew’s
is going to support a baseball team. We
will also have a 4x8 sign in the outfield.
is a room specifically for babies or little
ones and their parents to go to as they need
during the service. I am envisioning this
room to be built between the church and
the bathrooms in back of the church. They
would have the window so they would still
see the service going on and a speaker so
they could still hear everything. This addi-
tion though would cover over our little
fountains. We would enclose the narthex
area and I would like to also have a family
room for funerals and a bride’s room for
weddings on the other side of the church
between the church and the youth room,
most of the time though, this room could
be used as a choir room. Another benefit of
this is that the bathrooms would be air con-
ditioned.
I would like to call this the Ernie Bennett
addition and the cry room would be named
for Roz Bennett. (Our first rector currently
has no buildings in his honor or memory
and it would be appropriate to have this for
him.) So, pray about it please! Let me
know, or let any of your vestry know your
concerns or your thoughts. We want St.
Andrew’s Church to be an effective light
for Jesus here in Spring Hill and I think
this would help us be more effective.
May God richly bless you!
Warmly in Christ,
Fr. Lance
Dear Friends,
Welcome back from summer! We are
looking forward to an exciting time this
fall here at St. Andrew’s! As many of you
know we are meeting at Salishan the first
Thursday of every month. We have a
short service for our people there and any
visitors who may attend. If you would like
to come and join us, please do! There are
a number of church members who live
there and are unable to attend here regu-
larly that would love to see you!
We will be starting new adult classes this
fall too! The Wednesday classes will first
be studying the Book of Proverbs. Have
you ever taken those psychological tests
that help you understand what type of
personality you are? Well, Proverbs is that
sort of book too. As we study it, we see
ourselves and what type of character we
have. I hope you will consider attending.
Our youth will begin meeting as well. The
Sunday School classes begin September
8th and the mid-week youth group begins
meeting on September 11th.
And speaking of youth, I would like to
have you begin praying about something
for our church. As I have been here over
the past 6 months I have noticed that
young families come to our services
sometimes with a small child 3 years old
and younger. The child, as little ones do,
gets restless after being confined to a
small area and being told to keep quiet.
Sometimes one of the parents picks the
child up and they take them outside to
walk and play. These families usually do
not return. We need and want young fami-
lies here! I have talked to the vestry about
this and now am bringing this to you. I
would like us to build a ‘cry room.’ This

Karen’s Kit ’n Kaboodle THRIFT SHOP Our “Christmas in July” sale advertised
in the summer edition of the Parish
Chimes mysteriously turned into a furni-
ture sale. It was very successful, netting
over $1,700. If we add the $652.25 in-
come from the Thrift Shop for the two
days of the sale when the shop would
have normally been closed (but was
open because of the sale), the total is
$2,3652.25. We thank John Bukazar,
Lannie Kline, Jerry Niedurny, Rick
Pederson and Tom Beem very sincerely
for the huge amount of labor-intensive
work they did to make the sale a suc-
cess. We appreciate our parish family
who supported us and thank you.

PUBLICITY Do you have an upcoming St Andrew’s
event that needs to be noted on the
Religion page of our local newspapers?
Examples would be Kick-Off Sunday,
Blessing of the Animals, etc. Our public-
ity person is Pat Trama. Pat must let the
papers know 3 weeks in advance if we
want something written up. You can
contact Pat (with your full information)

YOUTH GROUP Our Wednesday night Youth Group
meetings resume on September 11. We
are excited to be together again to share
fellowship and to make plans for fall,
winter and spring.
We had several young people attend the
diocesan Youth Service Camp at the ca-
thedral in St. Petersburg from August 5
to 9. Together with other youth from our
diocese and youth from the Tree-of-Life
Rosebud Lakota Reservation, our youth
engaged in service projects, outings and
educational programs.
One important item on our radar is help-
ing prepare for the Christmas Pageant.
Because we’re having Confirmation on
Dec. 15 this year, our pageant is early—
on Sunday Dec. 8th we will present the
pageant both at our 10:30 am service and
at 3 pm at the Atria at Evergreen Woods.

MUSIC NOTES Grateful thanks to those who shared their
talents as summer soloists; much thanks
also to those who helped organize more
of our ever-expanding music library.
Our Sanctuary Choir has resumed re-
hearsals (Thursdays at 6:15 pm). We’re
very excited about some of the music
planned for the remaining Pentecost sea-
son and for Advent and Christmas. We
really need YOU to join us—some of our
members are retiring. Here’s a chance for
you to share your musical passion in a
way that serves God and your fellow
parishioners. Sing to the Lord a New
Song!
Our Cantata Choir also continues to re-
hearse (Sundays 12:15 to 1:15 pm).
Among future plans is an Easter Cantata
that also requires a few dramatic readings
and possibly some interpretative move-
ment. Talk to Jody if you’d like to par-
ticipate.

CHRISTIAN FORMATION & EDUCATION Christian formation & education is a life-long process and is offered in the Anglican tradition of seeking the truth from diverse view-
points, even as our relationship with God through Jesus never wavers. Different viewpoints may be represented at different times.
ALTAR GUILD It has been a very hot summer, but all have
stayed cool in our church.
Have you noticed that two of our Brass
Offertory Plates have been re-done? They
are nice and clean with no marks or nicks in
them. Let us try and keep them that way.
Altar Guild will be having a meeting in
September, date to be announced.
Have a nice rest of summer.

EDITOR’S NOTE Fr. Lance’s Note to the Parish for the Summer Issue was cut short due to
the space requirements for putting out the extended edition. One of the
paragraphs we had to cut in this editor’s humble opinion needs to go out to
our congregation. Here it is:
“At this past May’s Vestry meeting we discussed how good communica-
tions are necessary for healthy churches! Every organization seems to
always suffer from a lack of communications in some way. But we want to
improve! One of the first and most important steps is to have open and hon-
est communications. Therefore, if you see a problem and think something
should be changed; please do not simply complain to others, instead talk to
the one who is responsible. If you are not sure to whom to talk, talk to me
or to one of the vestry members and we will get the situation sorted out.
Christians are supposed to be up front and honest and that is our goal in our
communications. Thank you, Fr. Lance.”
As one who over the years has made his living by communicating I wish to
add my 2¢ worth. One of the things about St. Andrew’s that I have noticed
is that there are many folks doing things for and around the Church in
silence and anonymity. I have been a member of this church for several
years now and I am continually discovering things that I think everyone
should be aware of. One of the purposes of The Chimes is to make every-
one in our church family aware of what goes on here. If you are working
in a ministry that is not being publicized, let us know. If you are aware that
someone you know is doing a ministry or service for the church, please
also let us know. As some people who do ministry or service prefer to
remain anonymous, we will not publish any names without permission.
I believe that we all need to know what is going on so that we can lend a
hand or at least keep that activity supported in our prayers.
Please contact me and help me get the word out.
