0.6 For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of thisstandard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated, express-ing the result of a test or analysis, shall be rounded off in accordance withIS :2-1960X. The number of significant places retained in the rounded offvalue should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard.

    1. SCOPE

1.1 This specification lays down the requirements of the following stainingtroughs and jar (including lids) used in pathological work:

    a) Staining trough, vertical;b) Staining trough, horizontal; andc) Staining jar, coplin.

    2. MATERIAL

2.1 The staining troughs and jar shall be made from clear glass (fordefinition see IS: 1382-1961f).

  • INDIAN STANDARDS INSTITUTION

The Indian Standards Institution (ISI), which started functioningin 1947, is the national standards organization for India. Itsprincipal object is to prepare standards on national and inter-national basis and promote their general adoption.

The overall control of ISI, which is run and financed jointly asa non-prof i t making body by the Government and privateenterprise, is exercised by the General Council, composed ofrepresentatives of Central and State Governments; leading trade, scientific and technological organizations; and subscribingmembers. The Union Minister of Industry is the ex-officio Presidentof ISI.

The present technical activity of ISI is carried out through8 Division Councils for Agricultural and Food Products ;Chemical; Civil Engineering; Consumer Products; Electrotechnical;Mechanical Engineering; Structural and Metals; and Textile. All technical work relating to the formulation and revision ofstandards is done by committees appointed by and under thedirection of their respective Division Councils. These committeesconsist of experts drawn from manufacturing units, technicalinstitutions, purchase organizations and other concerned bodies,

To make available benefits of Indian Standards to the commonman, ISI has introduced its Certification Marks Scheme under theIndian Standards Institution (Certification Marks) Act, 1952, asamended by the Amendment Act, 1961. According to this Act,quality goods conforming to Indian Standards can carry the ISICertification Mark. This Mark is a third-party guarantee ofquality of marked goods. Licences to use the ISI Cert i f icat ionMark are granted to manufacturers using reliable methods ofquality control subject to overall inspection by ISI.

In the international field, ISI represents India on the Inter-national Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the Inter-nat ional Electrotechnical Commission ( IEC). IS0 and IECrespectively link 54 and 40 countries, and function through I I8 and58 techn ica l commi t tees ; ISI part ic ipates in 83 technicalcommittees of IS0 and all the technical committees of IEC. Thecommittees and subcommittees of IEC and IS0 for which ISI holdsthe secretariat deal with: Electric Fans, Lac, Mica, PictorialMarkings for Handling of Goods, Liquid Flow Measurements in OpenChannels, Procedures for Inter-conversion of Values, Spices andCondiments, and Stimulant Foods.
