IRSA 2017 PORT DOUGLAS, QUEENSLAND
I would like to warmly welcome you all to beautiful, sunny Port Douglas, probably the jewel in Queensland’s crown of outstanding destinations! IRSA extends a warm welcome to all our interstate and international guests, and distinguished RANZCR and CIRSE Executive.
IRSA Conference Convenor Dr Nigel Mott and his team have compiled an educational experience bursting with lectures, seminars and workshop-style sessions. Some of the most compelling issues in IR today will be presented by well-known national and international speakers as well as budding IR’s. Once again, the EBIR examination will precede the Scientific Meeting.
Interventional radiology faces many challenges and inevitably, changes will need to be made to meet those challenges. Our specialty is always at the forefront of innovation, invention and technology in minimally invasive treatments. Improvement in the care of our patients compels us to meet these challenges. IRSA will forge a path into the future for the betterment of healthcare by education, teaching and research.
The Stroke Symposium, facilitated by Drs Vrazas and Mykytowycz, marks a first for IRSA. This special, focused workshop style meeting will be held at the end of the IRSA Scientific Meeting. Convenor Dr David Sacks from the SIR leads a first class group of physicians who will present the state-of-the art in modern stroke care. This is not to be missed! Dr Mykytowycz and I would like to personally thank David Sacks for his generosity, hard work and perseverance in bringing this to Australia!
I would like to congratulate Dr Mott and his team, the IRSA Executive and social functions co-ordinator, Dr James Burnes, who have worked tirelessly to make this all possible.
A special thank you to all the corporate sponsors, Wendy Blackwell from AOT, and the Sheraton Port Douglas for making all this possible.
John VrazasIRSA President
