BRIGADE: MISSION AND CDR’S INTENTMISSION:3 ABCT, 4 ID executes OPERATION IRON STRIKE 05-24 Jul 16 at Fort Carson, CO in order to train Soldiers and leaders for NTC rotation 16-09, future decisive action operations, and to prepare the BCT for its allocated EUCOM RAF mission.

COMMANDER’S INTENT: The purpose of this operation is to train the Soldiers and leaders of 3 ABCT for NTC rotation 16-09 and future decisive action operations. 3 ABCT will be capable of fighting and winning across all warfighting functions against a near-peer adversary in a contested operating environment in preparation for RAF and contingency missions.

KEY TASKS:1. Plan and execute mission command systems and processes across wide distances.2. Coordinate and synchronize air and ground operations during the execution of offensive, defensive, and stability operations.3. Integrate and synchronize all attached forces and unified action partners to win in a contested operating environment.4. Plan and execute responsive and flexible sustainment operations in support of decisive action operations.

END STATE: The IRON STRONG Brigade is prepared to deploy, conduct decisive action operations to win across the spectrum of conflict, and accomplish assigned missions in scaled, modular formations or as part of a larger force.

Mission: 64th BSB, 3 ABCT, 4 ID executes OPERATION IRON STRIKE Force on Force Operations on 08-14 JUL 16 at Fort Carson, CO in order to train Soldiers and leaders for NTC rotation 16-09, future decisive action operations, and to prepare the BN for its allocated EUCOM RAF missionCommander’s Intent:The purpose of this operation is to train the Soldiers and leaders of 64th BSB for NTC rotation 16-09 and future decisive action operationsKey Tasks:

1.Maintain proficiency on all Key Collective Tasks2.Synchronize logistics operations across the brigade3.Employ the FLE efficiently in order to maintain freedom of maneuver for the

brigade.End State:64th BSB is prepared to deploy and sustain the Iron Brigade in support of decisive operations. Increase the ability to relocate the FLE for prolong missions, and efficiently provide sustainment functions throughout the brigade. Concept of the Operation: This will be a four phase operationPhase I: (Preparation)- This phase begins after BSA established at DZ Plateau on 08JUL16 and ends when the battalion prepare for training execution. Phase II: (Execution)- This phase begins when all companies conduct initial training with the Forward Support Companies and ends with the culminating event of BSA LFX on 12JUL16.Phase III: (BSA Relocation)- This phase begins when the BSA start initial movement to DZ Becca on 13JUL16 in order to continue to support the brigade for phase III, and ends when all companies arrived to DZ Becca NLT 14JUL.Phase IV: (BSA Establishment)- This phase begins when quartering party arrives at DZ Becca for initial set-up and ends when SSA is completely established on 15JUL16 and ready to support follow on mission.

Mission: 64th BSB provides continuous sustainment support ISO Operation Iron Strike from 05-22July16 IVO FCCO IOT train on decisive action operations and enable company certifications.

Intent: The purpose of this operation is to certify companies prior to NTC Rotation 16-09 on collective tasks while conducting BSA operations. Validate FLE’s composition and ability to provide responsive and continuous support during decisive actions. Continue to certify leaders and their ability to execute tactical logistics.

Key Task: 1. Exercise core competencies 2. Validate companies 3. Validate Battalion TACSOP 4. Increase ability to displace the BSA

End State: Friendly: BSB is able to provide expeditionary support and displace BSA during DA Ops Enemy: Deter enemy’s ability to gather information on the BSATerrain: BSB maintains freedom of maneuver on LOCs Civil: BSB does not impede on flow of traffic along FCCO MSRs

Decisive Operation: BSA jump from DZ plateau to DZ Becca

Shaping Operations: BSA is established IVO DZ Plateau. Main supply Route 6/11 is the primary route to sustain combat power during the operation. To shorten resupply timelines, a FLE will be established IVO DZ Becca to provide unit distribution resupply to the southern maneuver units during decisive operations.

Sustainment Operations: 64 BSB will use LRPs and unit distribution in order to support 3ABCT with CL I, CL II, CL III, CL IV, CL V, CL VII, CL VIII, and CL IX.

Assumed Risk: Positioning logistics assets forward with limited personnel and defensive capabilities. We will mitigate this by ensuring the FLE maintains its own security elements and never be out longer than three days while the BSA jumps to its location.
