In  situ  Dynamic  Balancing  This  is  a  one  day  programme  for  learning  on  site  balancing.  Contents  are:

1. Introduction  to  Vibration  2. Identification  of  unbalance  as  a  problem  3. On  site  balancing  technique  –  1  plane  only  4. Hands  on

ISO  TRAINING  COURSES    Beginning  2014  IRD  Mechanalysis  brings  ISO   18436:2003   Vibration   condition  monitoring   training   with   certification.  This   training   has   been   created   by  Institute   for   Excellence   in   Engineering  and   Management   (IEEM)   Mumbai   and  conforms   to   ISO   18436-‐2.   The   training  will  be  imparted  by  IRD  Mechanalysis.  An  education  board  has  been  created  as  per  IS/ISO/IEC   17024:   2003   consisting   of  senior   practitioners,   academicians,  experts   from   condition   monitoring  service   companies.   The   board   will  overseas   certification   and   examination  process.  Currently   only   vibration   condition  monitoring  category  1  and  category  2  are  being  offered.  In  2015  we  shall  introduce  category   3,   4   and   5.   For   content   and  other   details   IRD   or   IEEM   can   be  contacted.

MAINTENANCE   MANAGEMENT  TRAINING    A   holistic   condition   monitoring  programme   needs   knowledge   in   other  related   topics.   In   order   to   make   our  training   offerings   complete   and  comprehensive   we   are   offering  additional   titles.   Brief   write-‐up   and  content  for  each  is  mentioned.    INTEGRATION   OF   CONDITION  MONITORING   FOR   EARLY  WARNING   AND  ROOT  CAUSE  ANALYSIS

The   programme   discusses   the   three  widely   used   condition   monitoring  technologies:   Vibration,   Thermography  and   Wear   Debris   Analysis.     Plant  problems   tend   to   appear   first   as  temperature   rise   or   increase   in   lube   oil  particle  concentration.  Any  such  warning  gets   corroborated   through   the   other   CM  technique.   Thus   practice   of   all   three  techniques   provides   early   warning   and  root  cause.  The  programme  discusses  few  cases  also.    RELIABILITY   CENTERED   MAINTENANCE  (RCM)  AND  ASSET  OPTIMIZATION    RCM  or  Reliability  Centered  Maintenance  was   developed   during   70s   in   the   US   for  determining   the   optimum   maintenance  for   flying   objects.   The   method   was   very  powerful   in   reducing   the   risk   of   failures  and   enhancing   reliability.   Since   then   it  has   been   continuously   developed   and  used   in   Defense,   Nuclear   and   Fossil   fuel  based   power   generation,   Oil   and   gas  industries.  The  method  is  so  versatile  and  useful  that  it  has  now  permeated  all  kinds  of  industries  that  operate  in  a  competitive  environment.   The   programme   will  explain   step   by   step   method   to   upgrade  existing  practices  to  RCM  based  practices.  It   thus   optimizes   asset   utilization.   The  content  shall  be  as  follows:

• Introduction  and  RAM  • Why   Machine   fails   –   bath   tub

curve  • Functions  and  functional  failures  • Failure  mode   and   effect   analysis

–  FMEA  • RCM  decision  diagram  • Condition  monitoring

  • Implementation  and  change  management

EFFECTIVE  PM  and  PdM    Preventive  or  time  based  maintenance  is  age  old.  A  step  beyond   is   use   of   instruments   and   sensors   for   health  assessment   and   predicting   needs   of   maintenance.   In  recent   times  PdM  term  has  been  used  extensively  by  all  industries.  The  programme  makes  the  concept  clear  and  helps   participants   in   making   their   maintenance  programme  effective.

• Introduction  and  Maintenance  strategy  • Why  machine  fails  –  Bath  tub  curve  • Preventive  Maintenance  • Criticality  analysis  • Predictive  maintenance  • FMEA  and  PM  design  • Making  programme  effective

MAINTENANCE  COST  CONTROL    Maintenance  cost  varies  from  1  to  5%  of  top  line.  Any  improvement   and   corresponding   savings   gets   added  to   the   bottom   line.   The   training   brings   out   the  elements   of   maintenance   cost   and   discusses  methodology  to  optimize  the  same.  The  contents  shall  be  as  follows:

• Elements  of  maintenance  cost  • Measurement  • Maintenance  strategy  and  cost  • Buying  strategy  and  cost  • Concept  of  terotechnology
