JUST FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO GET STARTED

The story of children not left behind is what rings true for the students at the Institute for Recording Arts, Media and Production (iRAMP). Since 1998 students have pioneered and traveled there way through this sprawling program, and are left with nothing more than stellar drive, skill sets and motivation to go out into the world and compete for their spot in the workforce.

With our facility being located at the Historic Frederick Douglass High School, we have had our hard times, and we have had even harder times, but iRAMP has always been the pristine example of inner city excellence.

The Institute for Recording Arts, Media and Production reaches across curriculums taught in the Baltimore City public School system preparing students for several career pathways in the world of entertainment and technology. While learning about the wonderful art of sound engineering, video production, mass communications, web design, game development, media and show production, student participants explore acoustics and physics; develop communication and teamwork skills; sharpen reading, comprehension and reading skills; work math problems; master the use of computers; develop critical thinking and problem solving skills and much much more. As iRAMP is a school to careers program with all Students College Ready; its Career Technology and Education (CTE) program component, interactive media production, is an integral component of its success and preparation for our students next steps. iRAMP is not just a program, its a way of life We prepare our students for college or to obtain engaging entry-level jobs.

iRAMP is looking to expand its efforts in the class room with added instructional support, scholarship, and facility upgrades through sponsorship and partnerships in the entertainment and technology industries.

Step 1 What is The Institute for Recording Arts Media and Production

What are we doing?

We offer stipends to our certified student technicians who perform the services of audio production, video production, graphic design and motion graphics to our partners and clients from the community. Throughout the years we have offered scholarships and equipment to our top performers at our yearly Media Extravaganza where students present heir projects to the community.

With the budget freeze and lack of funding through the school system we are unable to offer the rewards that our students need to be successful in their education.

We are hosting an event to showcase iRAMP and build meaningful relationships within the entertainment and education industries forging our edutainment in the 21st century initiative

Goals

With added support, iRAMP will be able to work with more students during the school day, and after school programs to offer the ultimate opportunity of scholarships, internships, and/or entry level positions fresh out of high school in the field of their choice.

In the long run iRAMP is looking to expand to other districts where students are lacking the training necessary to function in the 21st Century workforce, and have an interest in STEM based education.

It was the introduction of the motion capture studio at Frederick Douglass, and Federal Hill 3D animation and

game studio Bully! Entertainment was there to capture the movements of two Baltimore Blast players for its new mobile

game, "Pel: King of Football."

The Institute for Recording Arts Media and Production was founded in 1998 by Dr. Lynn Patterson.

Over $1 million has been invested into the iRAMP program since 1998, providing solid STEM based education for over 1,500 students.

During the shooting for HBO Documentary Hard times at Douglass High, the iRAMP program produced CD and a sold out concert titled Racing Against More Problems

Step 1 Some of our Alumni

James Randolph, known as DJ 695 in Atlanta, GA completed iRAMP in 2006. He is now one of the premier DJs in Baltimore and Atlanta. He started DJing at the age of 16 and refined his production and engineering skills at iRAMP. He climbed the ranks of Baltimore Entertainment scene quickly and by early 2007 he was headlining the hottest

events around the city

Dantrell attended Frederick Douglass High School in Baltimore Maryland, where he was enro l led in the Recording arts and Media Production program (R.A.M.P.). During the 3 year term, Dantrell learned the fundamental basics of recording film. He studied for hours everyday, learning every function of the camera, building special effects, editing as well as lighting techniques. Dantrell was entered into many different types of competitions and always came out victorious as the leading Videographer and Director. His constant work ethic and natural ability to develop talent into lasting images is what separates him from the average Director.

iRAMP Alumni COMP ["Clever On Many Perspectives"] a.k.a. Jordan McElveen has made several marks in the industry ranging from soundtrack credits and film debuts to being heard and seen on video games.
