To explain the important aspects of Self Study Report (SSR).
To create awareness amongst teachers, students, officials and other stakeholders in the higher education system about the implications of NEP 2020.
METHODOLOGY
Subject-matter experts facilitated interactive sessions.
Video lectures shared which the participants could access at their ease.
The methodology included discussion, demonstration and hands-on experience.
OUTCOMES
Understanding about Quality Assurance (QA) and accreditation in Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs)
Visualizing the assessment and systematic management of processes to monitor performance and to address areas of improvement

OBJECTIVES OF FDP
The key objectives of this FDP are:
To provide meaningful and actionable inputs, to refine the strategies and to
prepare a “Roadmap” to further enhance the ranking position, recognition,
accreditation and grading process.
To get acquainted with quality assurance, metrics, guidelines and accreditation
process of NAAC
To gain knowledge about the various steps involved in NIRF Framework and
calculation of points
To gain experience about various updated processes and guidelines.
To explain the important aspects of Self Study Report (SSR).
To share best practices that can be used for institutional development.
To create awareness amongst teachers, students, officials and other stakeholders
in the higher education system about the implications of NEP 2020.
ABOUT PARTICIPANTS
Demographics of Participants (Total – 388 Participants)
There were total 388 participants in the FDP.
Out of 388, 236 of them were Phd holders and 8 were pursuing Phd. Around 35 were M.phil degree holders, 108 were post
graduates.
Around 36% of the participants were affiliated from University, 63% from various colleges and rest 1% were from Deemed
Universities, Educational Institutions, SCERT and R&D. While most of the participants were permanent employees, adhoc
employees constituted 3%, contractual employees were 4% whereas research scholars comprised of 2%.
Looking at the statistics, we get to know that the maximum number of participants were from Department
of Commerce i.e.68. Other departments like Chemistry, Economics and Physics had same number of
participants i.e. 22. We also had participants from Departments like Marathi, Philosophy,

Apart from Professors, Research Scholars, Teachers and other staff, many of the eminent dignitaries also
participated in the FDP. For instance, Dean of Academic Affairs (1), Director of Physical Education (2),
HOD of various departments (4) and Principals (2).
DAY 1- INAUGURAL CEREMONY
The Inaugural Ceremony was held virtually on 25th Nov, 2020 at 11 a.m. through Zoom platform. The
Chief Guest for the same was Dr. Vikas Gupta, Registrar, University of Delhi.
Dr. S. Venkata Kumar, Principal of Sri Venkarteswara College, and Dr. S.P. Aggarwal, Principal of
Ramanujan College, also graced the occasion.
Dr. Pooja Jain, Convenor of the FDP, welcomed the audience to the program, and briefly introduced the
background of the program. She also anchored the ceremony.
Dr. Mamta Arora, Convenor of the FDP, introduces the program to the participants. She highlighted the
key features of the program and emphasize the importance of quality assurance in higher education sector

these days. She assures that this FDP will help the participants cope up with the recent trends and
developments in the higher education sector, including the revised NAAC, NIRF and NEP 2020, from the
perspective of teachers.
Dr. S. Venkata Kumar, Principal, Sri Venkateswara College, shared his inputs about the importance of
FDP for the teachers as well as to the others who wishes to take up the administrative role in the future
and wished all the luck for the same.
Dr. S.P. Aggarwal, Principal, Ramanujan College, shared his ideas on the FDP and the need of the
„academic leaders to innovate‟. He wished all the luck for the same.
Dr. Vikas Gupta, Registrar, University of Delhi, shared his thoughts about the FDP and the importance of
the teacher‟s association in the upliftment of education sector under the NEP 2020.
Dr. Pooja Jain, Convenor of the FDP, explained the modalities and all the rules and regulations of the
FDP.

DAY 1 VIDEOS
NAAC FRAMEWORK
The first session conducted by Prof. A Joseph Doraiaraj, he has shared NAAC Framework and also
explained the significance of NAAC Accreditation Process. He also provided valuable insights regarding
introduction on assessment, NAAC Methodology and Hallmark of A+ Institutions in 4 units and video
lectures.
GLIMPES/SCREENSHOTS OF THE FIRST SESSION
In the second session, Prof. Peeyush Pahade, from H.V. Desai College (Pune), gave detailed video
lectures on NAAC‟s Assessment and Accreditation process. He highlighted about the core values, vision
and mission and how NAAC facilitates the HEI climb the quality ladder. He elaborated about the three
criterions, key indicators and the subsequent metric involved in the manual. He also discussed the
statistics with regards to these criterions. While keeping in mind the diversity of higher education in the
Indian context, he further briefed about the metric and their utility to the HEI.
He briefed about the Self-Study Report (SSR) and the importance of going through the tool tips. He
explained about the various components involved in SSR. In his video presentation about the Data
Verification and Validation (DVV) process, standard operating procedures for DVV in ascertaining and
validating the authenticity of submitted data and corresponding awards of points to quantitative matrics.
Further, he explained in detail about the modalities of Peer team visit management on – site visit.
DAY 2 VIDEOS
NAAC FRAMEWORK
Day 2 program started by the Prof. Peeyush Pahade, resource person and speaker during all 11 sessions of
total time duration of 2 hour 32 minutes. With the help of IT tools and recorded lecture, he introduced and
covered NAAC criterion IV to VII to the participants in easy, understandable and plain manner and
highlighted the significance of each criterion and its sub-parts. The NAAC criterion IV is based on
infrastructure & learning resources which entail physical facilities for teaching–learning, yoga activities,
LCD facilities, smart rooms and LMS in the institutions. He said that learning without infrastructure in
not possible and every institution should improve its infrastructure of all kind so that that advantage of
strong infrastructure availed by various stakeholders of institution. The NAAC criterion V covers student
support progression and he stated that if fully related to students‟ growth and progression. The NAAC
criterion VI emphasises on governance, leadership and management aspects and all three components are
highly crucial for strong foundation of an organization. The governance of institutions must be in tune
with mission and vision of the organisation. Lastly, the institutional values and its sub-parts covered in
NAAC criterion VII. All the sessions ended by assigning a test of MCQ the participants, feedback report
and discussion forum to the participants.
Outcome: The participants have acquired knowledge of the different NAAC criterion which would be
beneficial in designing, planning and maintaining all information and content for preparation of NAAC
reports in their institutions.

DAY 3 VIDEOS
NIRF FRAMEWORK
Day 3 program started by the Prof. Dr. Shrihari Ashok Pingle, resource person and speaker during all 6
sessions of total time duration of 33 minutes 34 second. With the help of IT tools and recorded lecture,
The Speaker enlighten and covered Emergence of NIRF Ranking methods approved and launched by
MHRD on 29th September 2015. The Speaker Focus on 5 Parameters to NIRF. In Parameter 1 Teaching,
Learning and Resources includes 4 component metrics and their importance in Higher Education. In
Parameter 2 Research and Professional Practice under this metrics explained 4 components and their
Formula for Calculation in colleges. In Parameter 3 Mentioned the Graduation Outcome (Go) in easy,
understandable and plain manner and highlighted the significance of each parameter at overall category
and college level. The NIRF Parameter 4 includes Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) with the help of 4
component Metrics they are common for overall colleges. The NIRF Parameter 5 Perception (PR) under
this metrics there is only 1 component metrics. So this metrics helps ingeneral that your institution is the
choice of public ingeneral. The sessions ended by assigning a test of MCQ to the participants, feedback
report and discussion forum to the participants.
Outcome: The participants have acquired knowledge of the different NIRF Parameter which would be

DAY 4: PANEL DISCUSSION
“NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY”

On the fourth day of the FDP, a live panel discussion session was held virtually on 28th November 2020 at
4.00 p.m through zoom platform. The topic of the discussion was “National Education Policy”. The
panelists were: Professor Dinesh Singh, Former V.C University of Delhi, Professor Chandra Bhushan
Sharma, Professor, IGNOU, New Delhi and Professor Arun Grover, Former V.C, Punjab University.
Dr. S.P Aggarwal, Principal, Ramanujan College, University of Delhi moderated the panel discussion.
The session began with a warm welcome address by Dr. Neha Singhal, FDP organizing team member
from Sri Venkateswara College. She briefly introduced the speakers of the session. The program
convenors Dr. Mamta Arora (Teacher in charge, Department of Commerce, Sri Venkateswara College)
and Dr. Pooja Jain (Assistant Professor, Sri Venkateswara College) successfully coordinated the
programme.
The moderator, Dr S. P Aggarwal began the session by giving an overview about the program. He talked
about the key objectives of the NEP such as sustainable development and making learning holistic,
enjoyable and engaging. He emphasized key features of NEP. He said that the NEP is aimed towards
critical thinking, equitable and inclusive education. He further talked about how the NEP seeks to revamp
the curriculum and pedagogy. Its salient feature includes a „single light but tight regulator‟. He also
elaborated on how multi – disciplinarity and promotion of Indian languages and culture are key focus
areas in NEP.
The first panelist, Professor Dinesh Singh highlighted the importance of relating the course curriculum to
practical life. Using Cambridge University as an example, he discussed how it developed the surrounding
into an economic zone and how that university was making its course curriculum and connecting students
in the practical life so they can be the job creator and not job seeker. While answering a question on
challenges of India‟s University against foreign university he replied that we have the capability to
generate high level of knowledge and we should not bother about other universities. Rather we should
concentrate on our own job.
The second panelist, Professor C. B. Sharma, emphasized on giving more importance to primary
education and said that India‟s primary education system is not good, without changing the primary
education system, we cannot achieve our goal. In this point of view he discussed that NEP-2020 is aimed
at reversing the Mc Cauley education system. He talked about the importance of imparting primary
education in mother tongue (local language) particularly how it would make the education accessible to
the underprivileged first generation learners. He hoped that the NEP-2020 would be successful in
bringing a change of India‟s education system.
The last panelist, Professor Grover traced the history of Indian education system. He talked of the
importance science and technology in the education system. He said that by using technology even remote
pupil and underprivileged people can avail good education and they can be job creator. So NEP-2020 may
be effective as it promotes job creation and it is an extension of what we have not achieved in last 75
years. Also he mentioned that Primary education is important but there is hardly any regulation in school
level. Also he discussed about college entrance examination and vocational education for job creator.
Even he discussed about how Ashutosh Mukherjee started a college and produced many bright academic
leaders.
The participant queries were taken by panelists towards the end. All the panelists gave wonderful insights
into the NEP and its key features. The session was very enriching, engaging and interactive.

DAY 5 VIDEOS
ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP AND UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATION
The 5th
day programme started by the Professor Dr. Peeyush Pahade resource person and speaker of the
first session cover three video lecture of total time 31 minutes 49 seconds. In this Video lecture he covers
governance, leadership & managemen and institutional vision and leadership part-I & ii. The video
lecture covered university administration and governance. In this session he mentioned whenever NAAC
team going to evaluate the institution they have to observe and collect information from different stake
holders that how institution is governing. Here he mentioned about vision statement and mission of the
institution. On the evaluation point of view governance leadership and management is divided into 5
matrixes. The five matrixs are: institutionals vision and leadership, strategy development and deployment,
faculty empowerment strategy, financial management and resource mobilization and internal quality
assurance.
The second session started by second speaker through Video lecture and covers University
Administration and Governance comprising 4 part taking 1hr 22minutes and 32 seconds. In this part he
discussed about what is university and types of university, university governance and graduate attributes.
He also applied different model and three important and relevant model of education system discussed
here. Also he covered different issues in higher education.
Outcome: The lectures provide knowledge to participant for maintaining standard and improving the
governance and leadership of an institution. It also helps to grow and produce vibrant academic leaders.
The participants have acquired knowledge of different NAAC criteria on governance, leadership and
management of higher educational institutions.

DAY 6 VIDEOS
ACADEMIC ADMINISTRATION AND CAS
The first session conducted by Prof. Peeyush Pahade, from H.V. Desai College (Pune), he has shared
IQAC Framework and also explained the significance of IQAC in the governance mechanism. He has
provided valuable insights regarding how IQAC contribute towards the quality of the institutions and also
how IQAC take initiatives for the smoothness of conducting activity to make organisation better by
giving numerous examples like IQAC can take various initiative such as e – governance, establish ad-on
course as per demand, conducting a specific programme and so on.

He also pointed out that the institution must take at least 15 initiatives to make organisation better and
IQAC must remain a vibrant body for performing better.
In the second session, Dr S.P. Aggarwal, Principal of Ramanujan College, University of Delhi, gave
detailed video lectures on Academic administration and Governance. He highlighted about the core
values, vision and mission and how Academic Administration manages the various educational institution
and it is different from other administrations. He emphasised that every faculty must aware about the
governance, ordinance and the statue of the organisation. As an academician, everyone must be aware
about their right, their fundamental duties.
The third speaker in the Video lecture is Dr. Arun Kumar Attree presented through two video taking 58
minutes29 seconds. He discussed about different level of promotion, eligibility criteria, UGC regulation
2018, CAS-2010 and CAS-2018.
Outcome: the lectures provide knowledge to participant for maintaining standard and improving the
governance and leadership of an institution through IQAC, it is providing over all facilities and taking
initiatives for improve standard of institutions.

DAY 7: VALEDICTORY SESSION
The Valedictory Session began at 3p.m. Ms. Shilpa, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, Sri
Venkateswara College, University of Delhi, welcomed the gathering and invited Dr. Mamta Arora,
Convener, Faculty Development Program on Higher Education: Road Ahead Developing Next
Generation Academic Leaders to deliver the opening remarks. Dr. Mamta Arora, explained that how
this Faculty Development has been able to uplift the faculty members who have participated in it. She
appreciated the organizing committee for their untiring efforts. She beautifully explained how during the
Pandemic this FDP was like and opportunity for all.
After Dr. Mamta Arora, Ms. Shilpa invited Dr. N. Latha, Convener, Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Sri
Venkateswara College, University of Delhi to address the gathering. Dr. Latha started by appreciating the
organizing committees of Ramanujan College and Sri Venkateswara College. She talked about in brief
the sessions delivered by Prof A. Joseph Dorairaj and Prof. Peeyush Pahade. Madam also explained how
this FDP will help the participants and the respective institutions in the future.
After Dr. N. Latha, Dr. S. Venkata Kumar, Acting Principal, Sri Venkateswara College shared his words
of wisdom. Dr. Kumar appreciated how this FDP is helping develop administrative leaders in higher
educational institution. Sir thanked Ramanujan College for teaming up with Sri Venkateswara College
once again.
Next, Dr. Pooja Jain, Convener of the FDP gave an elaborate presentation on the Faculty Development.
She showed the detailed feedback analysis and discussion form snapshots in her presentation. She also
briefly discussed the topics that were discussed during this Faculty Development Program.
After Dr. Pooja Jain, Dr. S Mahalakshmi and Dr. Vasudha Dhingra provided extensive feedback of the
Faculty Development Program. They appreciated the sessions, assignment questions and quizzes.
At the end, Ms. Shilpa, proposed the Vote of Thanks and thanked all the resource person, members of
organizing committee and participants of the Faculty Development Program.
