8th Asian Congress of Pediatric Nephrology The 8th Asian Congress of Pediatric Nephrology was held 9–11 September 2002, on Jeju Island, Korea. The Congress was organized by the Korean Society of Pedi- atric Nephrology. The Chairman of the local organizing committee, Pyung-Kil Kim, and the Vice Chairman, Ja Hoon Koo, as well as the Secretary General, Jae-Seung Lee, were responsible for the overall program. Honorary advisors included Matthias Brandis, Secretary General of the International Pediatric Nephrology Association, and Carmelo Alfiler, Secretary General of the Asian Pediat- ric Nephrology Association. The Congress theme was “Better Care, Better Life, Better Future for Children with Renal Diseases.” An excellent blend of scientific and so- cial programs highlighted this 3-day congress. Dr. Yong Choi, Chair of the Scientific Committee, reported that there were 271 participants to the 8th Asian Congress of Pediatric Nephrology. One hundred and fifty-four ab- stracts were submitted and 49 invited lectures were pre- sented. Participants and presenters came from 26 coun- tries. Also featured were two pre-congress symposia and two pre-congress special lectures. This successful and very well attended congress highlights the excellent level of discourse within the Asian Pediatric Nephrology As- sociation and the high level of scientific and clinical dia- logue among its members. 36th Annual Meeting of the European Society of Paediatric Nephrology The 36th Annual Meeting of the European Society of Paediatric Nephrology was held in Bilbao, Spain, from 20 to 24 September 2002. This vibrant educational and scientific meeting had 617 delegates and also provided the delegates with a wonderful social program high- lighted by a visit to the new Guggenheim Museum. The meeting was also an opportunity to honor the President of the 36th Annual Meeting, Dr. Juan Rodriguez Soriano. The Scientific Committee and the arrangements provided by Dr. Soriano made for an excellent scientific as well as clinical interchange for all the delegates. The next meeting of the European Society of Paediatric Nephrology will be held in conjunction with the World Congress of Nephrology in Berlin in June 2003. 36th Annual Meeting of the European Society of Paediatric Nephrology

The 36th Annual Meeting of the European Society ofPaediatric Nephrology was held in Bilbao, Spain, from20 to 24 September 2002. This vibrant educational andscientific meeting had 617 delegates and also providedthe delegates with a wonderful social program high-lighted by a visit to the new Guggenheim Museum. Themeeting was also an opportunity to honor the Presidentof the 36th Annual Meeting, Dr. Juan Rodriguez Soriano. The Scientific Committee and the arrangementsprovided by Dr. Soriano made for an excellent scientificas well as clinical interchange for all the delegates. Thenext meeting of the European Society of PaediatricNephrology will be held in conjunction with the WorldCongress of Nephrology in Berlin in June 2003.
