What magazines have they been associated with over the years?They have a partnership with the NME, any new music magazine would be sensible to partner as they are becoming one of the most well known music magazines. NME do not have a specific target audience; they aim for both male and female audiences however are specifically aimed toward the rock/indie genre. NME may from time to time cover a slight variation of rock, but this is never as widely recognised as their preferred rock/indie genres. Bauer have a wider range of music magazines such as Empire, Q and kerrang. Each of these magazines has a different genre and target audience therefore seeming to have a better understanding of how to create a well presented music magazine whatever the genre. Other publications they have been involved with are: Now, TV Times, Nuts, Mousebreaker and Marie Curie.24/10/13 3. Background history of I.P.C I.P.C stands for international publication corporation. It was formed in 1963 following the merge of the UKs three leading magazine publishers - George Newnes, Odhams Press and Fleetway Publications - who came together with the Mirror Group to form the International Publishing Corporation (IPC). IPC Magazines was established 5 years later. IPC magazines were formed five years later.The Field (their first published newspaper), an IPC title, launched in 1853 and within a year became the largest newspaper in Europe, with 24 pages. It had its own correspondent throughout the Crimean War and its November 18, 1854, issue ran a series of personal narratives of those who took part in the Charge of the Light Brigade. IPC have been around for 150 years.24/10/13 4. Magazines they produce now IPC creates content for multiple platforms, across print, online, mobile, tablets and events. They produce consumer magazines and comics. They have published many different types of magazines, all falling in the categories of: - women's weekly magazines - TV guides/entertainment - Sport/Leisure - Men's magazines - Fashion/Gossip - Lifestyle/Gossip - Lifestyle/Home 24/10/13 5. Target Audience: The IPC have three publishing divisions; IPC Connect, IPC Inspire and IPC Southbank. IPC's diverse print and digital portfolio offers something for everyone, with a focus on three main audiences: -Men -Mass market women -Upmarket women. The men's portfolio (IPC inspire) comprises a wealth of leisure brands including country life, Horse and Hound, Rugby World and Decanter, as well as lifestyle brands including Nuts, Mousebreaker and NME. The mass market women's division (IPC connect) comprises famous women's weeklies including Look, Now, Chat and Woman; TV entertainment including What's On Tv, TV Times and TV and Satelite Week and, online, the goodtoknow network. The upmarket women's division (IPC southbank) comprises luxury fashion brands including Marie Clarie and InStyle, lifestyle brands including woma&home and essentials and home interest brands including ideal home, Livingetc and housetohome. 24/10/13 6. Is the IPC a good choice as a publisher for a music magazine? The IPC industry would be a good choice as a publisher for a music magazine. This is because they have lots of experience with music magazines, such as, the NME. The IPC is a very reliable publisher, as it has been producing many kinds of magazines over the years. Also, they are aware of what to and what not to add in music magazines. They have different target audiences for the magazines they produce, so they know what will suit the target audience a new music magazine is aimed at. They have published many successful music magazines such as NME therefore is more likely to make new magazines successful, as they are aware of the kind of features to add on the magazines to attract the reader. 24/10/13 7.
