If you have booked the low budget transfer please make your way to Terminal 5 / Meeting Point for 17h00. A staff member will be at the airport to welcome each student between the hours of 10h00 and 17h00. The coach to the centre will leave at 18h00. On the day of departure our low budget shuttle will leave the centre at about 8h00 and arrive at London Heathrow around 11h00. Students may have to wait before their flight departs, but please bear in mind that they should check in 2 hours before take-off. This requires a flight departure from Heathrow Airport after 14h00.

If youre arriving or departing outside the specified time frame or at any other airport, you can book a private transfer. Private transfers are offered from London Heathrow, London Gatwick, London City (2,5 hours), London Stansted, Southampton (1hour), and Bournemouth airports (15mins). Our Meet & Greet-Service will be waiting for you at the customs exit and ensure a safe transfer to the centre. On the day of departure, private transfers will leave the centre as required to make sure that students are able to complete a timely check-in. Please keep in mind that students may have to wait a length of time before their flight departs in order for our staff to comply with a 2 hour pre-departure check-in.

Groups generally receive a Meet & Greet-Service at their customs exit and are accompanied to the departure Terminal by an IP staff member.

On the day of departure, we will drop each student off at the airport. If they would like to be taken directly to the check-in desk, please inquire about our Unaccompanied Minor Service. Please

  • keep in mind that a return UM-Service must be booked if your student uses the UM-service on arrival.

Centre Description The Bournemouth and Poole College The Bournemouth junior summer course is attractive for our older students (14-17 years), because it is located in Englands most popular student town. The residences and school buildings are located in the safe Lansdowne area. The distance from the Purbeck House to the school buildings is 0,3 km (approx. a 5-minute-walk) and 2 km from the Glendevon Hotel (approx. a 25 min walk). Lessons take place in Bournemouth and Poole College. Students can choose between a home stay and residential accommodation in town. During the peak season we have approximately 250 students at the centre. Students come mainly from Germany, Spain, Italy, Russia, and France. This allows our students to experience a multi-cultural environment where English is the means of communication. Afternoon and evening activities are organized by the international team. Please see the sample programme for details. Students are under the supervision of our international team (generally, one supervisor is responsible for 15 students). Further information about our staff members and the languages they speak is available prior to departure.

  • Trip Programme 2 Half-day trips and 1 full-day trip included per fortnight. Additional trips can be booked at the centre. Entrance fees for excursions are not included!

Full-day: London (Minimum Age: 13 years)

If you travel to England, you simply have to see London! We try to get as much as possible out of our day in this fascinating city. We leave Bournemouth at around 8h30 and after a short stop at Heathrow Airport well arrive in Londons city centre at about 11h00. During our guided tour we will pass Trafalgar Square, The Mall, Buckingham Palace, Birdcage Walk, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, London Eye, and Piccadilly Circus (entrance fees are not included). After our tour its shopping time! Shopping is not supervised and is only permitted in groups with a minimum of 3 students. Our shopping venues include Oxford Street, Regent Street, and Carnaby Street. Alternatively, you may choose to visit the Hard Rock Caf or the famous Covent Garden. At Covent Garden you will have the opportunity to watch a variety of street artists and jugglers. As you may notice, the possibilities are endless and you will have a difficult time deciding how to spend your one magnificent day in London. At about 17h00 we will leave London; tired after an exciting day, but with countless memories to look back on. When we return to the centre around 20h00 we will definitely be ready for a good nights sleep!

    Full-day: Bath

Baths heyday was in the 18th century when it was a fashionable spa town and the hot spot for English high society. Much of Baths architecture dates back to this time, and the city is famous for its elegant Georgian townhouses and sweeping crescents. Today Bath is one of the most beautiful cities in the UK and has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We will leave the centre at around 8h30 and arrive in Bath approximately two hours later. After a guided tour around the city, your free time may be spent shopping or visiting the Roman Bath & Pump Room, Pulteney Bridge, Bath Abbey, or the Royal Crescent (entrance fees not included). At about 16h00 we will leave Bath and return to Bournemouth around 18h00.

    Full-day: Brighton

Brighton is without a doubt Britains most popular seaside resort offering some of the best shopping outside of London! It has become one of the most fashionable and vibrant cities in the UK. Our sightseeing walk will take us past the famous Piers and the Royal Pavilion (entrance fees not included). These have been major attractions for decades as well as the famous Lanes Shopping Quarter. Departure for Brighton is at approximately 8h30 and we will arrive back in Bournemouth in time for dinner at 18h00.

    Half-day: Jurassic Coast

The Jurassic Coast is a World Heritage Site. It is located on the English Channel Coast in Southern England, stretching from Orcombe Point, near Exmouth in East Devon to Old Harry Rocks near Swanage in East Dorset. Its distance spans 153 kilometers. The Jurassic Coast consists of Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous cliffs spanning the Mesozoic Era, documenting 180 million years of geological history. The site contains a number of unique geological features as well as amazing examples of various landforms. These landforms include the natural arch at Durdle Door, in addition to the cove and limestone folding at Lulworth Cove. We will visit these two sites during our half-day trip to the Jurassic Coast. We will leave Bournemouth around 14h00 and be back in time for dinner.

  • Half-day: Portsmouth

Portsmouth is home to the worlds oldest dry dock that is still in use by many ships, including Nelsons famous flagship HMS Victory. Portsmouths military activity has declined in recent years, but it still remains a major dockyard and base for the Royal Navy. There is a lot to discover on our excursion to Portsmouth, e.g. the D-Day museum, the Royal Naval Museum, or the Spinnaker Tower at Gunwharf Quays (entrance fees are not included). Besides its military use, Portsmouth is also a fantastic place for shopping! We will depart for Portsmouth at around 1400h and be back in time for dinner.

    Half-day: Winchester

For our half-day trip to Winchester, the former English capital, we will leave Bournemouth around 14h00. After our arrival we will take a sightseeing walk, viewing the cathedral and castle home to King Arthurs Round Table (entrance fees not included). After our walk, you will have time to spend shopping or visiting the rest of town. Winchester is also an ideal place for admirers of the written word. Winchester has some of the best bookshops in all of Great Britain. Dinner will be provided back at the centre.

    Half-day: Corfe Castle & Swanage

After a 45 minute drive we will arrive at Corfe Castle. First, we will relive the castles history by visiting its small museum. Then we will take a leisurely stroll among the castles historic ruins. We will also take a quick look at the village shops. Then we will continue to the lovely little seaside town Swanage - a great place to have some fish 'n 'chips, look around the shops, or just relax on the beach.

    Special Programme

    Surf Course

Bournemouth is ideal for surfing (wave riding). If you want to get a feel for riding the waves, then be sure to join the surfing course at our partner school.

The surfing course for beginners includes five lessons (2 hours each) in the afternoons and lasts one week. Equipment will be provided. The times for surfing lessons can vary depending on the weather, tide, and the size of the waves. Please be aware that it might not be possible to join the activity programme or scheduled excursion.

This special is not included in the programme but can be chosen at the time of booking as an upgrade.

Special: London Overnight Trip (minimum age: 13 years)

As one day is not enough for a city like London, our overnight trip gives you more time to take in the sights.

On Saturday morning you will get an early breakfast and a packed lunch for the day. You will arrive in London around lunch time. Our supervisors will organize several sightseeing and shopping walks for you. In the evening you will all go for a warm meal together before making your way to the youth hostel where you will spend the night. The modern hostel has multi-bedded rooms with ensuite toilet and shower facilities. Breakfast on Sunday morning and a packed lunch are provided. You have several more hours to explore London before leaving the city on Sunday afternoon. Once you have returned to your centre, you will get a light evening meal.

This special is not included in the programme but can be chosen at the time of booking as an upgrade. Please be aware that booking this special prevents you from attending the scheduled full-day trip.

  • Students 2012 Nationalities

    Students 2012 - Ages

  • IP Rules & Regulations for England We have put together the following rules and regulations in order to guarantee responsible supervision of our language students during their stay at our course locations.

Alcohol: Our language students are strictly prohibited from buying and/or consuming alcohol.

Compulsory Attendance: All lessons and the daily assembly are compulsory activities. Each students attendance will be checked. Furthermore, for students under the age of 13, the activity programme is obligatory.

    Going Out:

Age 13 & under: Students under the age of 13 are not allowed to go out on their own at any time. Under 13s living in a host family more than half a mile away from the campus will always be picked up in the morning before school and taken home before dinner. Students under the age of 13 staying with a host family within a mile and closer to the campus are allowed to walk alone to the school and to their homestay accommodation. Ages 13 to 15: These students are allowed to go out in groups of 3, unsupervised until 20:00 oclock. Age 16 & up: These students are allowed to go out in groups of 3, unsupervised until 22:30 oclock.

All students aged 13 to 17: those students that would like to leave the campus in groups of 3 must inform their supervisors when they leave, as well as when they return. Our supervisors reserve the right to limit the going out times, if necessary. Going out times may also be extended if an IP activity goes beyond the going out hours.

Exception for private homestay accommodations: Students between the ages of 13 and 17 staying in a private homestay accommodation must be able to manage their own way to and from their accommodations to their daily lessons. Due to public transportation limitations it will not always be possible for students staying in a private homestay accommodation to participate in an activity until its official end. Return times will be discussed with the host family ahead of time. If for any reason these specific times cannot be adhered to, the guest family or our supervisors must be informed by phone.

Swimming in the sea / Swimming in the pool: As long as the lifeguards give a green light and our

students are able to swim; swimming in the sea and/or pool is permitted. We assume that our students are allowed to swim, however if this is not the case we ask the parents to inform us with the appropriate form in writing (see attached form). Please keep in mind that swimming is not an organized IP activity, therefore, we are unable to take over any responsibility or liability.

Theft: Cases of theft are followed- up rigorously by IP. Each case will result in an official complaint and

    report.

Drugs: The consumption and purchase of drugs is strictly forbidden.

Activity Programme: We would like to point out that activities such as Paintball and Laser Quest which glorify violence will not be offered or supported by IP. During the free-time portions of our organized excursions, students 13 years of age and older are permitted to be on their own in groups of 3. Students younger than age 13 will be accompanied by a supervisor.

Fire Extinguishers: Fire extinguishers are for emergency use only. If a fire extinguisher is tampered
