HOMECOMING - - This is Iowa’s 99th homecoming game andthe Hawkeyes have a 52-41-5 record in those games. Iowa hasplayed Penn State twice previously at its homecoming and wonboth mes. The Hawkeyes beat the Niany Lions in homecomingin 1930 (19-0) and 2001 (24-18). Iowa has won eight of its last 10homecoming contests.
2010 RECORDS - - Both teams are 3-1 with each having wonthree mes at home and losing once on the road. Iowa beatEastern Illinois (37-7), Iowa State (35-7) and Ball State (45-0) andlost at Arizona (34-27). Penn State beat Youngstown State (44-14),Kent State (24-0) and Temple (22-13) with the lone loss comingat top-ranked Alabama (24-3).
THE SERIES - - This is the 23rd game in the series and it is edat 11. Iowa has won seven of the last eight meengs, includinglast year’s 21-10 game at State College. 0-0) Saturday in Iowa’s 99th homecoming contest. Game time is 7:06 p.m. CT in
Kinnick Stadium (70,585). The game is sold out. Both teams lost non-conferenceroad games to ranked teams; Iowa lost at Arizona and Penn State dropped a contesat Alabama.
ON THE TUBEESPN (HD) will televise the contest to a national audience. Mark Jones, Bob
Davie and Jeannine Edwards will call the action.
RADIO BROADCAST Iowa games are broadcast on the Hawkeye Radio Network. Gary Dolphin handles

HAWKEYE HISTORY Iowa has played 1,133 games since beginning football in 1889. Iowa’s overal
record is 582-512-39 (.531). That includes a 368-199-16 (.644) record in homegames, a 214-313-23 (.410) record in games away from Iowa City, a 285-344-25(.455) mark in Big Ten games and a 251-163-15 (.603) record in Kinnick Stadium
IOWA HOMECOMINGIowa holds a 52-41-5 (.556) record in homecoming games. Iowa defeated Michi
gan (30-28) in its 2009 homcoming contest to end a two-game homecoming losingstreak. Iowa won seven straight from 2000-06. Iowa will play Penn State for thethird time on homecoming. The Hawkeyes are 2-0 against the Nittany Lions onhomecoming, winning in 1930 (19-0) and 2001 (24-18).
HAWKEYE EXPRESS INCREASES RIDERSThe Hawkeye Express, which shuttles Iowa fans to and from Kinnick Stadium
from the west edge of Coralville, has hit record numbers for the initial three gamesof the football season. The Hawkeye Express is averaging 4,867 passengers throughthree games, with a season high of 4,931 passengers for the most recent Ball Stategame. The Hawkeye express averaged 3,939 passengers per game in 2008 and4,297 passengers in 2009.
The Hawkeye Express will begin service Saturday at 3 p.m. prior to Iowa’s
homecoming contest with Penn State (7:06 p.m., ESPN). The Hawkeye Expressbegins post game service at the start of the fourth quarter.
BLACK AND GOLD SPIRIT NIGHT Saturday’s homecoming game vs. Penn State is Black and Gold Spirit Night in
Kinnick Stadium. Fans are encouraged to wear black or gold in support of theHawkeyes, depending on their seat location. fan is wearing the selected color for that section. The winning fan will be selectedat the end of the first quarter.
DANIELS EARNS BIG TEN HONORJunior DL Mike Daniels was named Big Ten Conference co-defensive Player
of the Week for his play in Iowa’s 45-0 win over Ball State. The Blackwood, NJ(Highland Regional HS) native recorded career bests in tackles and tackles for lossin Iowa’s shutout victory over Ball State. Daniels had four solo tackles and twoassists, including four tackles for loss (-20) and one QB sack (-7). Through fourgames, Daniels ranks second in the Big Ten and 13th nationally in tackles for losswith 7.5 tackles for negative 43 yards.
The Hawkeye defense held Ball State to just 112 yards total offense (56 rushing56 passing) as nine of 12 Ball State possessions were five plays or less.

The press conferences are held in the auditorium of
the Hayden Fry Football Complex. Coach Ferentz ad-
dresses the media at 12:30 p.m. and requested players
will be available following the press conference. In case
of poor weather, player interviews will be conducted
inside the bubble.
Media need to submit their Tuesday player interview
requests to Phil Haddy, via e-mail, by 10:30 a.m. CT
each Sunday. True freshmen are not available for
interviews.
Media can access video highlights of Ferentz’s weekly
press conference, plus player clips and highlights via
satellite. The time is from 3:30 to 3:45 p.m. (CT). The

Stanzi received honorable mention recognition after directing the Hawkeyeoffense against the Cardinals. Stanzi completed 19-25 passes for 288 yards andthree touchdowns, with no interceptions. He has thrown at least one scoring passin 12 straight games and he has three touchdown passes in each of Iowa’s last twogames. In four games, he has nine touchdown passes and one interception, whilecompleting 66.7% of his attempts and compiling an ef ficiency rating of 179.41Stanzi is second in the Big Ten and fifth nationally in pass ef ficiency.
TICKET UPDATEIowa has sold all tickets for its seven home games. Iowa has issued over 59,000
season tickets, which includes more than 10,000 student tickets. The Iowa recordfor average home attendance is 70,585, set in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Iowa has soldout Kinnick Stadium 45 of the last 47 games. In addition, Iowa has sold its allotment of tickets to remaining road games at Michigan, Northwestern and Minnesota
DOMINANT AT HOMEIowa has won 47 of its last 56 games (.839) in Kinnick Stadium, dating back to
the 2002 season, including a 3-0 mark this season. The nine Hawkeye losses cameto Western Michigan (28-19 in 2007), Indiana (38-20 in 2007), Michigan (23-20in overtime in 2005), Ohio State (38-17 in 2006), Northwestern (21-7 in 2006, 22-17 in 2008 and 17-10 in 2009), Wisconsin (24-21 in 2006) and Iowa State (36-31
in 2002). Iowa recorded a school-record 22-game home winning streak between2002-05, which ended in the overtime loss to Michigan.
Iowa’s 44-9 (.830) home record from 2002 thru 2009 ranked as the 11th-beshome winning percentage in the nation and second in the Big Ten to Ohio State.
Iowa was 6-1 at home in 2009, with wins over Northern Iowa, Arizona, ArkansasState, Michigan, Indiana and Minnesota and a loss to Northwestern. Iowa is 15-2at home since the start of the 2008 season.

INJURY SETBACKSIowa sophomore running back Jewel Hampton and junior linebacker Bruce Davis
suffered season-ending knee injuries during Iowa’s 34-27 loss at Arizona. Botheither have, or will very soon, undergo surgery to repair the damage.
Hampton rushed 91 times for 463 yards and seven touchdowns as a freshman in2008 before missing 2009 due to injury. He rushed 20 times for 84 yards and atouchdown against Iowa State and had a four-yard touchdown reception at Arizona

PENN STATE COACH JOE PATERNOJoe Paterno is in his 61st season on the Penn State football coaching staff, includ-
ing his 45th year as head coach. Paterno’s career record is 397-130-3 (.752) sincetaking over in 1966. He ranks first in all-time NCAA FBS career victories andsecond all-time in games coached (530) among major college coaches.
Paterno’s teams have appeared in 36 bowl games, winning 24, won national titlesin 1982 and 1986 and posted undefeated records in 1968, 1969, 1973, 1986 and1994. His teams have won as many as 11 games in 15 seasons and he has beenNational Coach of the Year on five occasions.
Paterno has been the Penn State coach for 21 of the 22 meetings between theHawkeyes and Nittany Lions.
THE SERIESThe 22-game series is tied 11-11. The teams first met Nov. 15, 1930, with Iowa
winning 19-0 in Iowa City. The series is even for the first time since Penn State’s44-14 win in 1971 left the series at one win apiece.
Iowa has won the last two meetings and eight of the last 10. Iowa claimed a thrill-ing 24-23 win in 2008, converting a 31-yard field goal with one second to play thelast time the teams met at Iowa City.
Both teams have had a five-game winning streak in the series. Penn State woneach game played between 1971 and 1975. Iowa’s longest streak in the seriesbegan with a double-overtime win in 2000 and included wins from 2000-04. Theteams did not meet in 2005 and 2006.

Penn State is playing the second of three night games, asthe loss at Alabama was also a night game.
This is the eighth night game at Kinnick Stadium, with Iowaholding a 4-3 record in the seven previous games. Iowa losthe first night contest played in Kinnick Stadium to MiamiFL (24-7) on Sept. 5, 1992. The Hawkeyes defeated NorthernIllinois (24-0) on Sept. 18, 1999, Arizona State (21-2) on Sept20, 2003, Syracuse (35-0) on Sept. 8, 2007 and Michigan(30-28) on Oct. 10, 2009.

Kirk Ferentz (pronounced FAIR-rintz,rhymes with parents) is in his 12thseason as head football coach at theUniversity of Iowa. His latest contract
extension, signed in 2010, runs throughthe 2020 season.
Ferentz was named the 2009 Dave Mc-Clain Big Ten Conference Coach of theYear. Iowa has played insix January bowl games and has four January bowl victories(2004 Outback Bowl, 2005 Capital One Bowl, 2009 Outback Bowl and 2010 FedEx Orange Bowl). Iowa has posted a 73-32 (.695) overall mark and a 42-22 (.656) Big Ten record thelast nine seasons. Ferentz has guided the Hawkeyes to eightfirst divisionfinishes, including a second-place finish in 2009.
Ferentz, at Iowa, holds an overall record of 84-56 (.600)and a 49-39 (.557) mark in Big Ten games. In 14 seasons asa college head coach his career mark is 96-77 (.555).
Ferentz joined the Iowa staff after serving as assistant head
coach and offensive line coach of the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens.He was part of the Baltimore (Cleveland Browns prior to themove) staff for six years.
Ferentz was named head coach of the Maine Bears in 1990and held that position for three years. Ferentz was a member of Hayden Fry’s Iowa staff for nine years as offensive line coach(1981-89). He coordinated Iowa’s running game during hisfirst coaching stint with the Hawkeyes. Iowa appeared in eightbowl games during the time Ferentz was an Iowa assistant,posting a 4-4 record. A pair of Rose Bowls (1982 & 1986),two Holiday Bowl appearances (1986 & 1987) and a pair of Peach Bowl visits (1982 & 1988), along with appearances inthe Gator (1983) and Freedom bowls (1984) highlighted hisprevious Iowa stay. Iowa’s record in those nine years was73-33-4.
Ferentz was born in Royal Oak, MI, and attended high schoolin Pittsburgh, PA. Kirk earned his bachelor’s degree in EnglishEducation from the University of Connecticut in 1978, wherehe was a football captain. Kirk received the DistinguishedAlumnus Award from the Neag School of Education at theUniversity of Connecticut in May, 2009. He was inducted intothe Upper St. Clair High School Hall of Fame in September,2002 and the Western Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hallof Fame in May, 2003.

• Iowa has played five overtime games in its history and two have come at PennState (the other three were vs. Michigan in 2005, at Syracuse in 2006 and vsMichigan State in 2007). The Hawkeyes are 4-1 in overtime games, with thelone defeat coming to Michigan in 2005. Iowa won both overtime contests aPenn State. Iowa’s 26-23 double overtime victory at Penn State in 2000 wasIowa’sfirst-ever overtime game. In 2002, the Nittany Lions rallied from a 35-13fourth quarter deficit to send the game into overtime, only to see the Hawkeyes
prevail (42-35).• Both Iowa and Penn State have dropped non-conference road games to ranked
opponents. Iowa lost 34-27 at #18/24 Arizona on Sept. 18 when the Wildcatscored the winning points with 3:57 remaining. Penn State dropped a 24-7contest at top-ranked Alabama on Sept. 11.
• Iowa and Penn State both posted 11-2 overall records a year ago and both were6-2 in Big Ten play. Iowa lost at home to Northwestern and at Ohio State. PennState lost at home to both Iowa and Ohio State. Both the Hawkeyes and NittanyLions won January bowl games, with Iowa defeating Georgia Tech in the FedExOrange Bowl and Penn State defeating LSU in the Capital One Bowl.
• Iowa’s win at Penn State in 2002 featured the only occasion in which theHawkeyes have scored two points after blocking an opponent PAT. D.J. Johnsonrecovered the blocked kick and returned it for two critical points.
• Iowa has two players from Pennsylvania on its roster, including starting line-backer Jeremiha Hunter from York and DL Thomas Nardo from Lancaster. PENN STATE IN THE BIG TEN Since joining the Big Ten Conference in 1993, Penn State has a winning record
against seven of its Big Ten opponents. The Nittany Lions are 5-10 vs. Michigan6-11 vs. Ohio State and 5-8 vs. Iowa. Only Iowa (5-2) and Michigan (5-2) hold a
winning record in Beaver Stadium during that time.
IOWA WON A YEAR AGOIowa scored the final 21 points of the game after trailing 10-0 in the first period
in taking a 21-10 win at No. 4/5 Penn State last Sept. 26. A steady rain began earlyin the day and continued throughout the prime time contest.
Penn State scored on a 79-yard pass play on itsfirst offensive play. Following an interception,the Nittany Lions used a 20-play drive to moveinto field goal position for a 10-0 advantage inthefinal minute of the opening period. PSU heldthe ball for 10:28 of the first quarter.
Iowa’s defense began to take control early
in the second period. With Penn State in poorfield position, Iowa DE Broderick Binns forceda fumble in the end zone, which resulted in asafety. Daniel Murray added a 41-yard fieldgoal later in the period and Iowa trailed 10-5at halftime.
Neither team was able to gain an advantage in the third period before Iowa’sdefense dominated the final 15 minutes. Iowa forced a PSU punt with 12:21 remaining and DE Adrian Clayborn blocked the kick. Clayborn recovered the looseball and scored on a 53-yard return to give Iowa its first advantage of the night a11-10. Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk SeriesThe Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series is in its seventh season in2010-11. The series is tied 3-3 in the in-state competi-tion against Iowa State that began in 2004-05. IowaState captured the Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series a year agoby a 16-11 margin.
Iowa holds a 5-2 advantage to date, defeating ISUin football and women’s soccer and falling to ISUin volleyball.
Last season, Iowa captured victories in football,women’s soccer, wrestling, women’s gymnastics andwomen’s tennis. The Cyclones recorded wins in vol-leyball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s andwomen’s basketball, women’s swimming and diving,women’s gymnastics and softball.
Iowa captured the inaugural Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series(13-8) in 2004-05 and won again in 2006-07 (13-8)and 2008-09 (21-4). Iowa State won the competitionin 2005-06 (13-8) and 2007-08 (18-9) and 2009-10(16-11).
The 12-event series awards two points (except foot-ball, which is worth three) to the winning school ineach head-to-head match-up between the two insti-tutions. Additionally, two points are awarded to aninstitution if the graduation rate of its student-athletesis greater than the national average as reported eachfall by the NCAA.
A commemorative Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series Cup,
which stands 31 inches tall and weighs 19 pounds, isdisplayed on the winning team’s campus for an entireyear after a victory. Replica cups are also presentedas “traveling trophies” for individual victorious teamsin the head-to-head competition.

PENN STATE DOWNS TEMPLEPenn State rallied from a first quarter deficit to take a 22-13 win over visiting
Temple. The Nittany Lions held Temple scoreless over the final three periodsPenn State collected field goals of 45 and 32 yards from Collin Wagner in the firsperiod, but Temple answered each with a touchdown drive to build a 13-6 advantage
Wagner added a 42-yard field goal in the second period and kicks from 32 and 21yards in the third as Penn State led 15-13 heading into the final period. A one-yardrun by Michael Zordich with 5:59 remaining provided the final margin.
Penn State held Temple to just 202 yards total offense, including 91 net yardsover the final three periods. Michael Mauti, Nate Stupar and Chris Colasanteach had seven tackles to lead Penn State’s defense, while Nick Sukay added twointerceptions.

seventh among FBS signal callers in victories with Josh Nesbitt of Georgia Tech(21). Stanzi trails the following: Andy Dalton, TCU (33), Kellen Moore, BoiseState (29), Tyrod Taylor, Virginia Tech (25), Case Keenum, Houston (24), TerrellPryor, Ohio State (23) and Colin Kaerpernick, Nevada (23).

• Senior TE Allen Reisner has 14 receptions for 185 yards and a touchdown.Reisner had four receptions in the opening game, three catches (66 yards) inthe win over Iowa State and five catches for 53 yards against Ball State.
• Reisner had five receptions in the first period against Ball State, surpassing hisprevious career high (four vs. Eastern Illinois, 9/4/10). His career high in yardsis 66 yards vs. Iowa State earlier this season. Last season, Reisner had 14 catchesfor 143 yards in 13 games.

HAWKEYES BY THE NUMBERSIowa returns 46 lettermen from 2009, including 20 on of-
fense, 22 on defense and four specialists. The 46 lettermenare two less than the number from 2009. The Hawkeyes re-turn six starters on offense, eight on defense and their kickerand punter. The lettermen breakdown includes 15 three-yearlettermen, 12 two-year lettermen and 19 one-year lettermen.
The total roster has 121 players, and includes 26 seniors,21 juniors, 25 sophomores, 16 redshirt freshmen and 33 truefreshmen. The first game depth chart included 19 seniors,14 juniors, 12 sophomores, five redshirt freshmen and twotrue freshmen.
Just two Division I programs, Hawaii (31) and Louisville(27), have more returning seniors than Iowa, while Texas-ElPaso also returns 26 seniors and Ohio State returns 25.

HAWKEYE NOTES• Iowa has won 10 straight games over the last four seasons
with a trophy on the line. The current streak began witha win over Minnesota in 2007 for possession of Floyd of
Rosedale. Iowa also won the battle for Floyd in both 2008and 2009 and the Cy-Hawk (Iowa State) the last threeyears. Iowa has won the Heartland Trophy (Wisconsinthe last two seasons. The streak includes wins in the 2009Outback and 2010 FedEx Orange bowls.
• Dating back to 2008, Iowa has won seven of its last ninegames away from Iowa City. A six-game streak wasnapped in the overtime loss at eighth-ranked Ohio Statelast November and Iowa lost at 18th-ranked Arizona earlierthis season. The streak included wins at Minnesota, IowaState, Penn State, Wisconsin and Michigan State, alongwith a victory over South Carolina in the 2009 Outback
Bowl. The road winning streak was the longest for Iowasince the Hawkeyes won all five of their road games during the 2002 regular season. • Iowa, in 2009, won four games by three points or less forthe first time ever in a single season. Iowa was 4-1 in 2009when trailing after three periods and 1-1 when tied afterthree quarters. Iowa blocked twofield goal attempts in thefinal seconds of a win over Northern Iowa and scored onthe final play in a win at Michigan State. The Hawkeyeslost at Ohio State in overtime.

HAWKEYES RANK HIGH IN GRADUATION RATES
The Iowa Hawkeyes were among the nation’s leaders in academic
success for college football teams that competed in bowl games fol-
lowing the 2008 season.
Iowa ranked 16th in graduation rate for its football student-athletes,according to data collected by the NCAA among the 68 college foot-
ball teams that participated in the 34 college football bowl games.
Iowa’s graduation rate of 75% ranked third among teams that ap-
peared in the 2008 final top 25 rankings.
A year ago, Iowa’s GSR of 74% ranked second among the 10
teans that competed in 2010 BCS bowl games.
The graduation rate for Iowa’s 2009 nationally ranked football
program was 67 percent for the second consecutive year. The
national average was 55 percent.
THREE HAWKEYES EARN ACADEMIC HONORS
In 2008, three Iowa players were named to the ESPN The Magazine/
CoSIDA District Seven first all-academic team.
Under Kirk Ferentz in the last 11 years, 15 Hawkeye players havecombined to earn academic all-America honors on 28 occasions.
Four players, DL Aaron Kampman, OL Andy Lightfoot, LB Mike
Klinkenborg and DB Adam Shada, were three-time honorees. Cur-
rent senior Julian Vandervelde earned regional honors in each of the
past two seasons.
Iowa, in 2006, was the only Division I program in the nation to
have three players earn first team academic all-America recognition.
In addition, Iowa players have been honored 130 times over the past
10 seasons with academic all-Big Ten recognition.

ranks as the 16th highest total in Division I football. BEST DECADE FOR IOWA FOOTBALLIowa’s football record in the 2000 decade was 80-45 (.640),
a record that ranks as the best decade in Iowa football history,based on total wins. Iowa posted a record of 77-40-4 (.652)during the 1980’s and the Hawkeyes were 62-53-2 (.538) inthe 1990’s.
Part of the Hawkeye success is due to the stability in theprogram, as Iowa has had just two head coaches since 1979.Hayden Fry took over prior to the 1979 season and coachedthrough the 1998 season, posting a record of 143-89-6. Cur-rent Coach Kirk Ferentz replaced Fry, leading the program for
the last 11 seasons. Ferentz also served as Iowa’s offensiveline coach from 1981-89 under Fry.
In a January, 2010 release, espn.com ranked Big Ten pro-grams over the last decade in the following order: Ohio State,Iowa, Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, Purdue, Northwest-ern, Minnesota, Michigan State, Illinois and Indiana. Factorssuch as Big Ten titles, BCS bowl appearances, bowl recordand number of losing seasons played a role in the rankings.

BIG PLAY HAWKEYESIowa had four passing plays of at least 20 yards against Ball
State, plus one running play, one punt return and a 25-yardfield goal. Iowa has had 14 pass plays, four rushing plays,six KO returns, one punt return and a blocked punt return of over 20 yards.

down and 7.5 yards on third down against Ball State, and hadno fourth down attempts. In four games, Iowa is averaging
7.7 yards on 131 first down plays, 5.8 yards on 84 seconddown plays, 5.8 yards on 50 third down plays and -1.7 yardswhile converting 1-3 fourth down attempts.
AVERAGE SCORING DRIVESIowa’s seven scoring drives vs. Ball State averaged 7.3
plays, 60.3 yards and 3:25 in elapsed time. Iowa’s 19 scoringdrives in four games have averaged 7.1 plays, 62.5 yards and3:37 in elapsed time.
Ball State had no scoring drives, as nine of the 12 Cardinapossessions lasted five plays or less. Iowa’s four opponenthave six scoring drives, averaging 7.5 plays, 60.7 yards and2:56 in elapsed time.

WATCHING FROM ABOVEIowa’s coaches in the press box are Lester Erb (running back
and special teams), along with quality control Scott South-mayd and graduate assistant coaches David Raih and CharlieBullen. That leaves Ken O’Keefe (offensive coordinator),Erik Campbell (receivers and tight ends), Phil Parker (defen-sive backs), Reese Morgan (offensive line), Darrell Wilson(linebackers and special teams), Rick Kaczenski (defensiveline) and Eric Johnson (assistant linebackers) on the sidelines.
Due to health reasons, Defensive Coordinator Norm Parkercoached from the press box in Iowa’sfinal four regular seasongames in 2009 and is expected to be in the box again this year.He has missed the last three games due to illness.
ROSE BOWL EXPERIENCE
Four members of the Iowa coaching staff have coached orplayed in the Rose Bowl. Kirk Ferentz coached in two RoseBowl games while on the Iowa staff. Norm Parker and PhilParker both coached in the Rose Bowl while on the staff atMichigan State. Erik Campbell played in one Rose Bowlduring his Michigan career and coached in four others whileon the Wolverine coaching staff.
HOME GROWN HAWKEYESIowa’s roster of 121 players includes 54 players from Iowa.
The roster includes 14 players from Illinois; 13 from Ohio; five from Minnesota and Missouri; four from Florida; threefrom Maryland and Wisconsin; two from Indiana, Michigan,
Nebraska, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Dakota andTexas; one from Georgia, Kansas, Massachusetts and Mon-tana and one from Australia and Canada.
MORE THAN ONESeventeen high schools have contributed more than one
player to the current Iowa football roster. The leader isIowa City High (Iowa) with seven. Those with three includeWashington HS in Cedar Rapids; Regina HS in Iowa City;and Glenville (Ohio). Thirteen other high schools have twoplayers on the roster, with five of those 12 in Iowa.
BROTHER ACT
Iowa has three sets of brothers on the roster. That includesA.J. and Zach Derby from Iowa City, Nick and Tyler Nielsenfrom Humboldt and Broderick and Marcus Binns from St.Paul, MN. A.J. and Zach’s father, John, was an Iowa line-backer (1988-91).
THE HAWKEYES, SIZE WISEThe two lightest Hawkeye players, weighing 170 pounds
include junior WR Paul Chaney, Jr. and freshman WR JohnChelf. Freshman OL Brandon Scherff is the heaviest at 310pounds. A total of eight Hawkeye players are listed ove300 pounds.
The tallest players, at 6-7, are freshman OL Andrew Donnal, freshman TE C.J. Fiedorowicz, sophomore OL Brett VanSloten and freshman TE Austin Vier. The shortest player, a5-8, is freshman De’Andre Johnson.
The average Hawkeye player is 6-2 and weighs 233 poundsThat is the exact same height and two pounds heavier thanthe average Iowa player in 2009.

GAME RECAP
Iowa scored touchdowns on its first three offensive possessions
and added a blocked punt return for a score in opening the season
with a 37-7 home win over Eastern Illinois. Iowa gained 435 yards
total offense, while allowing the Panthers just 157 net yards.
Iowa drove 65 yards in six plays to start the game, collecting thefirst points on a two-yard run by RB Adam Robinson. Robinson
added a four-yard scamper for a touchdown later in the first period
for a 14-0 Iowa advantage.Senior Paki O’Meara gave Iowa’s special teams a lift with a
blocked punt. O’Meara, who was tabbed the conference’s special
teams Player of the Week, was able to recover the blocked kick
and scored on a 42-yard return. Iowa’s final points of the first
half came in the second period when Robinson added a six-yard
touchdown run and the Hawkeyes led 28-7 at the break.
Iowa lost two fumbles in the second half, one of those from inside
the EIUfive-yard line. The Hawkeyes added a safety in the third
period and scored thefinal points when QB Ricky Stanzi completed
a one-yard scoring strike to FB Brett Morse. Sophomore PK Trent
Mossbrucker added all five PATs.
Robinson led Iowa’s ground game with 24 attempts for 109yards and he also had 43 yards on three receptions. Robinson
surpassed 100 yards for the third time in his career while matching
a career-rushing best. Stanzi completed 13-20 passes for 229
yards, with no interceptions. WR Colin Sandeman (4-59) and TE
Allen Reisner (4-39) led Iowa receivers, as 10 Hawkeyes had at
least one reception.
Senior tackle Karl Klug and junior LB Tyler Nielsen led the Iowa
defense with six tackles each and both had 1.5 tackles for loss.
DE Adrian Clayborn added four tackles, including one tackle for
loss and DT Mike Daniels and DE Lebron Daniel each had one of
Iowa’s two QB sacks.

GAME RECAP
Iowa scored touchdowns on its first three offensive possessions
for the second straight week as the Hawkeyes defeated Iowa State
35-7 in Kinnick Stadium. The win for Iowa was the third straight
in the series and fourth straight overall as the Hawkeyes retain
possession of the Cy-Hawky Trophy.
Iowa scored on drives of 71, 71 and 75 yards on its first three
possessions, running 26 plays in the first period, compared to
three for Iowa State. Iowa’sfirst score came on a nine-yard passfrom QB Ricky Stanzi to WR Marvin McNutt, Jr. and the second
came on a two-yard run by Jewel Hampton. A 66-yard completion
to McNutt, Jr. set up Iowa’s third score, a two-yard pass from
Stanzi to TE Allen Reisner. Stanzi scored on a one-yard sneak to
increase the advantage to 28-0. That score was set up by a 75-
yard run by RB Adam Robinson.
Iowa’s complete domination of the first half included 288 yards
total offense and 20:35 in time of possession, compared to 85
yards and 9:25 possession time for Iowa State.
The Iowa defense came up with the first of three interceptions
to stop ISU’s second drive of the third period and the Hawkeyes
quickly drove 97 yards in three plays to take a 35-0 advantage.Stanzi completed a 55-yard pass to Reisner and Robinson followed
with a 39-yard scoring run.
Robinson had a career-best 156 yards on 14 carries and
surpassed 1,000 career rushing yards on his 75-yard run.
Hampton added 20 carries for 84 yards in his first game since the
2009 Outback Bowl. Stanzi completed 11-18 passes for 204 yards
and two scores. Iowa did not have a turnover.
Senior LB Jeff Tarpinian, in his first career start, led the Iowa
defense. Tarpinian had a career-best 11 tackles, while LB Jeremiha
Hunter added nine and DB Tyler Sash had six. DB Shaun Prater,
FS Brett Greenwood and OLB Tyler Nielsen had interceptions.Punter Ryan Donahue averaged 48.4 yards onfive punts, allowing
just two returns for 13 yards.

GAME RECAP
Iowa rallied from a 20-point halftime deficit to tie the game in
the fourth quarter, but 18th-ranked Arizona responded with a
touchdown with 3:57 to play to take a 34-27 win at Tucson. The
loss snapped Iowa’s four-game winning streak, dating back to last
season.
Arizona started fast, blocking an Iowa punt in the opening minutes
and quickly drove eight yards for the first score allowed by Iowa in
thefirst period this season. Iowa’s second possession ended witha tipped pass being intercepted, and Trevin Wade racing 85 yards
to give the Wildcats a 14-0 advantage.
LB Jeff Tarpinian forced a fumble on Arizona’s next possession
and LB Jeremiha Hunter made the recovery, leading to a nine play,
93-yard Iowa scoring drive that cut the deficit to seven. Iowa’sfirst
score came on a four-yard pass from QB Ricky Stanzi to RB Jewel
Hampton. Arizona responded by returning the ensuing kickoff 100
yards for a 21-7 advantage. The Wildcats added twofield goals in
the second period and led 27-7 at intermission.
Iowa closed the gap in the third quarter on a 37-yard pass
from Stanzi to WR Derrell Johnson-Koulianos, a reception that
put Johnson-Koulianos over 2,000 career receiving yards. TheHawkeye defense led to the next two scores. DB Shaun Prater
recovered an Arizona fumbled punt, and the Hawkeyes scored on
an 18-yard pass from Stanzi to WR Marvin McNutt, Jr., cutting the
deficit to 27-21.
Junior DE Broderick Binns followed with an interception on
Arizona’s second play, and his 20-yard touchdown return left the
game tied after Arizona blocked Iowa’s PAT attempt.
The Wildcats then drove 72 yards in nine plays for the winning
touchdown, scoring on a four-yard pass. The Hawkeyes were not
able to get in scoring position on their following possession.
Stanzi led Iowa’s offense, completing 18-33 passes for 278 yardsand three touchdowns. Johnson-Koulianos had seven receptions
for 114 yards. He moved into third place on Iowa’s career receiving
list.
The Hawkeye defense was led by Tarpinian, who had 12 tackles
to establish a career high for the second straight week. SS

Binns had six tackles to go with his first career interception and

GAME RECAP
Iowa concluded non-conference action with a dominating 45-0
win over Ball State on a chilly and rainy afternoon in Kinnick
Stadium. Iowa outgained the visitors 562-112 in total offense,
rushing for 256 yards and passing for 306 yards.
The Hawkeyes did not allow Ball State to cross midfield until
the third period and nine of 12 Ball State possessions were five
plays or less. The Cardinals were held to 56 rushing yards and 56
passing yards.Iowa took a 7-0 advantage on a one-yard run by RB Adam
Robinson. The margin increased to 21-0 by halftime as Iowa QB
Ricky Stanzi had scoring strikes of eight yards (to WR Keenan
Davis) and 22 yards (to WR Derrell Johnson-Koulianos) in the
second period.
Robinson added his second score on another one-yard run in
the third period and Johnson-Koulianos had a 45-yard reception
from Stanzi to stretch the advantage to 35-0 after three quarters.
WR Colin Sandeman had a six-yard touchdown reception from QB
James Vandenberg for Iowa’s final touchdown and PK Michael

on his four receptions. Davis (4-50) also had career best in catches
and yards while scoring his second career touchdown. Meyer, a
