children in Iowa• Purpose
– “To encourage children to read more and better books.”
– “To provide an avenue for positive dialogue between teachers, parents, and
children about books and authors.”
- “To give recognition to those who write books for children.” (IASL)

– Living author residing in U.S.– One book per author for awarding year– Reading and Interest level at grades 3-6– Published books within four years of
awarding year– Master list consists of 15-25 titles
