Investment Tip: Dont Fear the Tax ManMany investors make their decisions based on the amount of taxes they will have to pay when they report their investment profits at the end of the year. This is of course a legitimate concern, but many new investors take this approach too far. Some investors and brokers walk back their investments to the point where they are selling at a loss to avoid the taxes. Taxes should never have this great of a bearing on when you decided to hold or sell your stocks. If youre invested in a rising Stock that appears unsustainable, its better to sell it off, make your money and report than to hold on to it for too long and lose your investment, even for tax purposes. The point of investing is to gain Value, right? So why lose value on purpose to avoid paying taxes? Its always better to take the gains when they appear unsustainable than to ride your investment into the ground at a loss. Instead of fearing the tax man, fear the loss man. Take your profits as they come and stop letting April 15th dictate your investment strategy.

All of the best investment brokers preach this simple adage to their clients and to anyone who will listen.
