May 2016 Calwell, Curtin, Jerrabomberra and Wanniassa Community Bank® branches Chairman’s report. Welcome to the April 2016 Newsletter. I am delighted to be the new Chair of Molonglo Financial Services Limited. I commenced in the role in early March, after our former Chair Jayson Hinder was appointed as the newest Member of the ACT Legislative Assembly. When Jayson joined the Board, we had two branches that had returned at the time around $60,000 total to a handful of local groups and organisations. As a result of his long tenure, MFSL now operates four branches and has returned over $1.1 million to over 100 Canberra organisations. Jayson had a hands-on approach to running this company, which allowed him to help the local community, as well as challenge our franchisor on behalf of our local shareholders. This direction will serve as an example for the Board of Directors into the future and we thank him whole-heartedly for his service to our company. I am pleased to take the reigns of this company after five-and-a-half years as a Director on the Board. MFSL is in a strong position going forward, evidenced by a dividend last financial year and positive figures so far this year. While there may be a financial impact resulting from Bendigo Bank’s Project Horizon review, we expect our performance to continue to improve in 2016/17. Neale Guthrie Chair Snowy Hydro SouthCare Awareness Month. Every March, Snowy Hydro SouthCare (SHSC) and its partner organisations promote the great things that SHSC does for the Canberra region. We were happy to have staff join us from Braidwood, Bungendore, Boorowa, Jamison and Civic branches to meet attendees of the Base Open Day. Our Directors and staff also attended the SHSC Trivia Night to help raise funds. The staff table came in close second overall. Snowy Hydro SouthCare is well recognised as an essential service to our region. To date, the service has completed over 6,000 missions and saved countless lives. Their support for the local community has even extended to the shareholders of Molonglo Financial Services Limited (MFSL), as they will play host to the 2016 Annual General Meeting in October. Donations to SHSC can be made at any Bendigo Bank branch in the region, visit your local branch today to show your support. Shareholder privileges. Celebrate Gungahlin. On 2 April 2016, we were lucky to partner with Communities@Work and sponsor the second Celebrate Gungahlin event. With our point of difference being community, we knew that promoting community spirit in a new area of Canberra would be a great investment.

Staff such as Nadia, Jess and Chloe (pictured above left) helped out and met the thousands of attendees of Celebrate Gungahlin.

The ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr MLA and our former Chair Jayson Hinder MLA, stopped by our stall to say g’day to our Calwell Branch Manager Damian McNamara (above right).

Damian (pictured above left) was also lucky to get a visit from the Canberra Reptile Zoo and their slithery friend late in the day.

Our new Chair Neale Guthrie (pictured above right) speaking to attendees and congratulating everyone involved in promoting community spirit in Canberra.

Reducing homelessness – Social Investment Grant Program 2016.The Social Investment Grants Program are annual grants offered by Community Sector Banking and administered in conjunction with Bendigo Bank’s Community Enterprise Foundation™. Each year, the Grants Committee determines an area in which the Grants will generate the most impact. In 2016 it will be ‘reducing homelessness’.

If you know an organisation that displays new ways of preventing and address homelessness, have them apply for a grant from 2 May 2016. More information can be found at: www.communitysectorbanking.com.au/grants

Saturday trading. Please be advised that our Calwell, Curtin and Jerrabomberra Community Bank® branches have ceased Saturday trading. Recently, MFSL has sought to mirror Bendigo Bank’s business practices to offer consistency to all stakeholders. Our Wanniassa branch will remain open with increased staffing, allowing customers to access lending specialists on Saturdays. This change took effect from 26 March 2016.

Shares for sale. There are now 30 share parcels available in Molonglo Financial Services Limited. Over 600 residents are today shareholders in our local Community Bank® company.
