Gathering 6 000 participants, the OPEN DAYS is the annual key event for EU, national, regional and local authorities to showcase and discuss EU cohesion policy’s management, results and prospects.

It is organised by the EU Committee of the Regions and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional Policy in cooperation with the European Parliament, the EU Presidency, and 206 regions and cities from 35 countries.

The objectives of the event are
to exchange good practice in regional and urban development,
to facilitate networking among administrations from different countries on structural funds’ interventions,
and to contribute to an in-depth debate on cohesion policy’s achievements and prospects.

How to register?
Participation in the OPEN DAYS is free of charge. Registration can be done exclusively online : www.opendays.europa.eu between 6 July and 28 September 2011.
Badges will be handed out in the OPEN DAYS Tent in front of the Regional Policy Directorate-General building and in the lobby of the Committee of the Regions’ building.

Local events
Alongside the Brussels seminars and workshops organised between 10 and 13 October, more than 250 local events "Europe in my region/city" are planned to take place all over the European Union and beyond throughout September, October and November. More information on local events can be found here

OPEN DAYS and the media
About 300 journalists - most of them from regional and local TV, radio and newspapers – are expected to cover the event.
A special programme including press briefings by country, interview opportunities, a media centre etc. awaits them, along with the opportunity to discover ‘their region in Brussels’.
