DC to AC power invertors convert 12 or 24V DC batterypower to 230V AC mains electricity. This allows you runalmost any AC app l iance ( l ike compute r s , tv ' s ,microwaves, hairdryers etc) wi thout the need ofshorepower or a generator.

Invertors are quiet, compact and effecient - in fact running230V equipment from an invertor is often twice aseffecient as running expensive DC equivilents (certainly inthe case of microwaves, tv's and fridges).

Merlin offers both a cost effective "Leisure" and topquality "Professional" range of invertors to suit allapplications.

Leisure series units are ideal for weekender use. OurProfessional Series units are for long distance sailors,commerical users and those whose life or livlihood maydepend on invertor performance and reliability.

Invertor Jargon ExplainedLOW BATTERY SHUTDOWNWhen DC input voltage reaches a pre-set level (usually11V), the invertor will automatically shut down. Thisprevents damage to the invertor and battery fromexcessive discharge

Modfied Sinewave (MSW) and Sinewave invertorsboth convert battery power to 230V mains.However, the type of power they produce isquite different.

A MSW invertor produces an AC waveform that issimilar to that of normal mains power. It issuitable for use with most AC appl iances.However, it may cause interference on TV/radioand isn't compatible with some electroniccontrols. It is safe for lighting, toasters, heaters,microwaves and most power tools.

Sinewave invertors produce power that is exactlythe same as s tandard 230V ma ins . I t i scompatible with al l AC loads - even highlysensitive ones.

MSW is significantly cheaper than Sinewave.

What's the difference betweenSinewave & Modified Sinewave?

OVERLOAD SHUTDOWNMerlin Equipment's units won't be damaged if youplug in appliances too large for your invertor. The unitwill simply shut down to protect it's internal circuits.

DC to AC Power Invertors

BACKFEED/SPIKE PROTECTIONA number of our units feature protection against ACspikes caused by motors and other equ ipment(including AC backfeed). This feature greatly enhancesinvertor longevity.

SHORT CIRCUIT PROTECTIONIn the event of a short-circuit across the live/neutraloutput terminals of the invertor, it will shut down toprevent damage to the invertor and possible damage tothe electrical system on board.

SWITCH-MODE TECHNOLOGYMany of our invertors feature Switch Mode powerconversion technology. This eliminates the requirementfor bulky transformers providing an extremely compact,effecient, quiet and light weight invertor.

HYBRID TECHNOLOGYSome of our units feature Hybrid switch-mode/IGBTtechnology. Each unit is equipped with heavy duty DC connectors, full overload/overheat/short-circuit/low battery protection, Smart Fans and a 13AUK 13A shuttered socket. The 150/300/600 watt model featuresLED warnings for fault conditions that may occur. The 1500 wattmodel has full voltage and wattage bar graphs as well as a self testfacility.

Our PureSine range of Leisure Series invertors incorporate manyfeatures found on Professional Series models at around half thecost. Using Hybrid Power Conversion technology, they areextremely compact, effecient and reliable. Their pure-sinewaveoutput promises 100% compatibility with all AC loads includingAudio Visual Systems, Computers, Washing Machines andComputers.

PureSine 1500 watt units also feature "Power Save" Mode. This works by shutting down the invertor'sinternal circuits when the unit is switched on with no load attached. The unit automatically 'wakes up'when it senses that a load has been switched on. This makes 1500 exceptionally effecient when instandby mode.

PureSine 150 & 300 Wattmodels are fitted with aremote control port. PROsine is manufactured by the world's largest invertor company - Xantrex. Drawing on their hugeinvertor experience, they designed a unit that sets a new benchmark in invertor reliablilty, effeciency anddesign.

Flexible Installation

Fitting your PROsine invertor is straightforward. With Heavy Duty DC terminations on the rear, they canaccept even the stiffest battery cable. The front mounted panel of the unit can be located up to 25 feetfrom the invertor with an optional "Interface Panel".

Choice Of AC Configuration

PROsine is available with two output configuarations:

AC Hardwire

A terminal block is provided within the unit for safe connection of Live, Neutral and Earth cables. Thisallows the unit to be permanantly wired into your AC electrical system.

AC Hardwire / Transfer

As above, but the unit has both AC Input and AC Output connections. Input is fed from your shorepowerfeed and output then runs to your AC distribution system. When externalshorepower is available, thePROsine unit will automatically "Stand By" and feed the shorepower AC through to your distributionsystem; When shorepower is disconnected, the unit automatically switches over to invertor mode. Thinkof it acting rather like a UPS system. This ensures that frdiges, freezers, clocks on videos & Microwaveswill always stay on (and not need constant re-setting).

Note that PROsine is no longer available with a UK output socket.
