Why Form an Ecosystem?
• Drive Incremental Revenue and Profit Pools Through a Value Chain– Create standards-based solutions (e.g. ZigBee, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth)– Drive interoperability and formal certification– Perform market development and proliferation programs
• Demand Acceleration– Bigger available and addressable markets (TAM/TAAM) based on industry
supported solutions– Better Time To Market (TTM) than formal standards bodies (perceived)
• Product and Market Life Cycle Extension – Driven by lead company business goals – Greenfield Harvesting/Disruption
• Managed Traction through the Value Chain – Common baseline (the standard) minimizes fragmentation– Buyers have supply choice via interoperable/compliant solutions
• Funding Sources and Risk Mitigation– Funding is shared by the Alliance participants– Market risk is spread over many stakeholders, and abstracted from the
individual companies
