Description

Firestop intumescent door seals are designed to closethe gap between the fire door and frame in the event ofa fire thereby preventing the spread of smoke and hotgasses. Once installed our seals can lay dormant formany years only activating when exposed to the risingtemperatures and pressures in a fire situation.

Firestop’s high performance intumescent core containsintercalated graphite which in the event of a fireexpands multi-directionally up to 10-15 times its originalsize sealing the gap and holding the fire door in place.

Firestop’s combined intumescent fire and smoke sealprovides additional cold smoke protection sealing off�the gap around the door and providing a permanentseal to the passage of smoke. The smoke seal alsoaffords additional thermal and acoustic benefits.

These own branded door packs each contain sufficient intumescent seals to fit a single fire door and are packed in atough clear polythene sleeve fitted with a euro hook hanger to allow easy self selection in store. Each pack contains 5 x 1050mm lengths of seal and comes complete with fitting instructions.

Lengths

Our standard lengths are 2100mm and 1050mm but weare able to manufacture seals to clients specific lengths.

Smoke Seals

Firestop smoke seals are manufactured from highquality polypropylene for exceptional durability andresistance to abrasion. Our standard brush pile colouris grey but black and white are also available to order.The standard brush pile height is 5.5mm but higher pileheights are available. Please note that higher brush pileheights may invalidate test evidence.

Testing

Firestop intumescent seals have been extensivelytested to the latest British standards and have achievedCertifire approval assessed against the requirements of the technical schedules TS35 & TS21

Fitting Instructions

IMPORTANT - You must fit the correct sizeintumescent seal as per the door manufacturersinstructions. If the door manufacturer cannot beidentified we would recommend the following:

Intumescent seals can be fitted to either the door frameor the fire door. The seal should be located centrally.

In the case of using 2 intumescent seals (Typically foran FD60 assembly) please space the seals so that oneof the seals is not completely interrupted by hinges orlocks/latches.

Fit the seals to both jambs (vertical sides) and to thehead of either the door frame or fire door. There is nobenefit to fitting intumescent seals to the bottom of the fire door.

1. Route a rebate to suit the seal size.

2. Clean the rebate to ensure it is free from dust and debris.

3. Measure and cut the seal using a hacksaw or blade.

4. Ensure that the seal does not stand proud of either the frame or the door.

5. Remove the self adhesive backing and press home the seal firmly.
